When to use this fix
Use these steps if Fire Studio 7 on Windows does any of the following:
Asks you to register or activate every time you open it (an "activation loop")
Shows a "You need to register" message and then closes
Shows a 9400 error
Worked before, but now asks you to register again
Important: Do not use the separate License Manager for this fix. If you see a separate License Manager icon or button, ignore it. After you delete the old hidden license files (step 3), Fire Studio itself will ask for your License ID and Password the next time it opens.
Steps
Get the latest Fire Studio 7 installer. If you don't have your download link, email support@digitalcombustion.com with your name, department and License ID and we'll send it to you.
Uninstall your current copy of Fire Studio 7.
Delete the hidden FireStudio7 folder in C:\ProgramData\. This is not the Program Files folder. ProgramData is hidden in Windows by default. If you're not sure how to find it, watch this short video: How To Delete The Hidden Fire Studio 7 Folder
Install the new copy of Fire Studio 7.
Open Fire Studio 7. The activation screen appears.
Enter your License ID and Password and activate.
Still not working?
Your license may need to be reset on our end, for example if it is still active on an old or crashed computer. Contact us at support@digitalcombustion.com with your name, department and License ID and we'll take care of it.
Please don't change your computer's name to try to fix this. Renaming the computer causes more license problems.
