How to create and assign a custom field to a user?

This tutorial will guide you through the process of creating and using custom fields in Dokeos LMS.

Make sure you have an administrator role to perform these actions.

A. Accessing the custom fields management page

  1. Log in to Dokeos LMS:
    Log in to Dokeos LMS with an administrator account.

  2. Access the users menu:
    In the left sidebar menu, click on "Users".

  3. Open the custom fields page:
    Click on "Custom fields" to access the management section.

B. Create a new custom field :

1.Access the custom field creation page:

  • On the custom fields page, you will see a list of fields you can create. You can create up to five custom fields.

2.Fill in the custom field information:

  • Field label: Enter the label you want to assign to the custom field (e.g., Employee ID, Department, Region, Office, etc.).

  • Save the custom field: Click on "Save" to finalize the creation.

Information:

  • The created custom fields will automatically be added to the user registration and modification forms, appearing after the default "Address" field.

  • You are not required to use all available custom fields—only use the ones you need.

  • The custom fields will also appear in the Excel file used for bulk import after downloading the import template.

C. Use custom fields during user registration or modification:

1.Access the user registration or modification form:

  • When inviting a new user or modifying an existing one, open the registration or modification form.

2.Find and fill in the custom fields:

  • The custom fields you have created will appear in the forms, after the default "Address" field.

  • Enter the appropriate values for these fields during user registration or modification.

Exemple d'utilisation : By adding employee IDs in custom fields, you can easily compare LMS data with your internal system using these IDs as a common identifier in your reports.

D. Modify or delete a custom field :

1.Access the custom fields management page:

  • Return to the custom fields page to view the list of created fields.

2.Modify or delete a custom field:

  • Modify a Custom Field: Click on the field you want to edit, adjust the necessary information, then click "Save" to apply the changes.

  • Delete a Custom Field: Click on the field you want to remove, delete its value, then click "Save" to permanently delete it.
