Health and safety guidelines for Eatwith events

Updated over 4 years ago

For the safety of both our hosts and guests, routine cleaning and sanitizing are required for all Eatwith events. Please review the following guidelines for what steps to take throughout your experience. Please refer to the food health and safety information provided by Pan American Health Organization to see what is relevant to your country.

Please read this guide for Coronavirus Cleaning & Sanitizing Guidelines.

⚠️ If you find yourself feeling unwell or showing signs of a fever, please cancel your event.

Before your Event

  • Personal hygiene - Tie your hair back and remove any loose or hanging jewelry/accessories before you start preparing for the event.

  • Sanitize your equipment and surfaces - Wash your equipment, tables, bathroom, dining table, chairs, doorknobs, etc with hot, soapy water.

  • Use disposable hand towels or personal hand towels in the restroom - Avoid one hand towel for all guests.

  • Wash your hands often - Clean hands thoroughly with soap and warm water for at least 20 seconds when preparing and handling food. Avoid touching your face and wash frequently throughout your preparation.

  • Rinse your produce - Be sure to thoroughly rinse all of your fresh produce before you begin cutting and cooking.

  • Food Handling - Use separate tools and utensils when working with raw ingredients such as meat, poultry, seafood, and eggs to avoid cross-contamination with other foods.

  • Use disposable menus - If you have menus, make sure to print new ones each event, or write the menu on a board where everyone can see.

  • Pets - Make sure your guests are fully aware of your pets.

During your Event

  • Set the scene - Upon arrival, offer guests a safe place to their outside belongings and show them where the bathroom is to clean their hands before they get settled.

  • Promote proper handwashing - Post reminders by your sink and in the dining area. If you can, provide alcohol/cleansing wipes for guests to clean their phones and hands throughout the event.

  • Use single-use items where needed - Give guests singular napkins to use while dining and single-use towels for drying their hands.

  • Serve food safely - Provide communal serving utensils for your guest to use throughout the experience i.e tongs, serving spoons, etc

Please read these HACCP principles to learn more about food safety.
