Teacher How To: Add, Edit, and Reorder Units

This article walks you through how to add and edit units, and how to reorder units.

Written by Heather Schultz

Before you start: Make sure you're inside the course where you want to add units.

To add a unit to your course:

  1. From the course page, click + Add unit (above your unit cards, on the right).

  2. Build the unit using one of two methods:

    • Manual Entry: Type directly into the form fields.

    • Unit Import: Let AI pre-fill the form from an existing unit plan.

  3. Attach standards to your unit now or later. For more information, see our Guide to Applying Standards.

  4. Select your Companion print title(s), if any, and then choose the page range.

  5. Click Complete.

You'll be taken to your unit page to review and continue building.

A note about form fields:

The options you see in the unit fields depend on what your school has set up. If you're unsure what a field is asking for, reach out to your school's Admin for clarification.

On your unit page, you can:

  • Expand/Collapse unit details: Click the top section to show or hide information.

  • Edit or Print unit information: Use the options at the top.

  • Access additional actions: Click the ⋯ (three dots) at the top-right corner to edit unit info, duplicate, move, or move the unit to Trash.

To edit a unit:

  1. Open the unit.

  2. Click Edit in the top-right corner (or click the ⋯ (three dots) and select Edit info).

  3. Update the unit's fields (such as Key ideas and Description), attach standards, or update the Companion print title(s), page range, or learning objectives.

  4. Click Complete in the top-right corner to save your changes.

To reorder units in a course:

  1. Open the course.

  2. Hover over the left side of the unit card you want to move. A set of stacked dots will appear in the top-left corner of the card.

  3. Click and drag the stacked dots to move the unit to its new spot.

Note: You can reorder lessons within a unit the same way. Open the unit, then click and drag the stacked dots on the lesson card.
