Teacher How To: Create a Student Group

Written by Heather Schultz

Student groups are profiles of your students that you can use across multiple classes. Once created, they're available whenever you need them. You can create a group by clicking Student Groups on the left navigation bar, or by setting one up while creating your class schedule.

About student groups: For now, student groups capture demographic information about your class. On our future roadmap, this data will be used to create differentiated lessons tailored to your specific student populations.

To create a student group:

  • Log into your account and click Student Groups on the left navigation bar

  • Click Create (top right or center of screen)

  • Fill in the following information:

    • Name for the group — Give your group a name

    • Grade(s) — Select the grade level(s) of students in this group

    • Instructional Period(s) — Select which instructional period(s) you'll teach this group

    • Class Size — Enter the number of students

    • Optional information:

      • Age ranges

      • Special student populations (e.g., ELLs, IEPs)

  • Assign a color to the group (the calendar will display this color when the group is assigned to a class)

  • Click Create

Your student group is now set up and ready to use across multiple classes.
