The exercises on Edvibe are created through exercise templates. Essentially, they are forms for adding different types of content (pictures, audio, video etc.) or interactive activities (matching, gap-filling, voice recording, etc.). This article gives an explanation on using each exercise template available on Edvibe.
Structure of templates
There are 2 areas in each template: instruction area and content area.
The instruction area is the same in every template and what you type in this field will be displayed as the heading or instruction for the exercise.
You may opt to leave the instruction area empty. If you do so, the template won't get its own number, so you can sequence multiple templates to create one exercise. The exercise in the example below consists of 3 templates: Pictures, Audio and Text.
Content area is different for every template. You can see a quick tip on how to use it by hovering over a ? icon.
Text emphasis
Some templates contain text fields. For most text you may apply typographic emphasis, such as bold, italic, underlined, strike-through, highlight and text color in any combination. To do that select the text and the emphasis menu will appear, where you can apply the style required.
Hot keys
Bold: Ctrl + b
Italic: Ctrl + i
Underline: Ctrl + u
Pro tip
You can also paste any unicode symbols or emoji in text fields (e.g. →♫ ★✗✓🙂👍)
Hide from students
In every template under Additional settings there is Hide from students toggle. If active, the exercise will be invisible to students. A teacher may also turn this setting on and off in a virtual classroom. This feature might be useful for adding keys to the exercises, teacher’s notes or optional activities for students.
Preview and hints
When you are creating exercises from templates, you see the virtual classroom in a preview and editor mode. That means that you can try out most of the exercises you create (with the exception of those that only work in classrooms with students). The answers you give there will only be visible to you. To reset your answers, open a contextual menu of an exercise and click Reset the answers.
As a teacher, you can also view popups or highlights with the correct answers if automatic answer checking is supported by the selected template. When you add lessons to your students' classrooms, they will not see such hints.
