Online courses in schools

Detailed information on how to conduct online courses in schools, add curators and allocate participants.

Updated over a year ago

Edvibe's online courses are a user-friendly and intuitive tool to assess the knowledge of students. These online courses are conducted in asynchronous mode. For some exercises, automatic assessment is available, while others are reviewed by a curator. Curators can provide feedback on all types of exercises.

Creating an Online Course

Online courses can be created by administrators and school staff. School staff members should be granted access to the "Online Courses" and "Materials" by the administrator under the School section in Settings.

Go to the "Online Courses" tab.

Click on the button to create a new online course.

On the first step, upload a course image, provide a description, specify the course type, and for language courses, provide the language being studied.

On the second step, choose curators for the online course from the list of school teachers. The curator will be responsible for reviewing the tasks completed by students.

Course settings

Study mode

Choose how students will progress through the online course.

  • Open as you go: The next lesson becomes available to a student after they complete the previous one.

  • Open: All lessons are accessible to students at any time.

  • By intervals: Specify a time interval for opening new lessons, for example, daily or every 3 days.

  • By days of the week: Select specific days of the week when new lessons will be made available to participants.

  • Closed: Initially, all lessons are inaccessible, and you will manually grant access to each lesson.

Delayed start

If you want to start the course at a specific date and time, you can activate the "Delayed Start" toggle. Once this option is activated, students won't be able to access the course lessons until the designated start time. This allows you to control the timing and availability of course content, ensuring that students begin their learning at the scheduled time.

Review by a teacher

You can activate this toggle if completed lessons need to be reviewed. In certain study modes, you have the option to choose when new lessons will open. You can set it up so that new lessons become available either after a teacher reviews the lesson or after a participant submits the lesson for review.

Classroom Background

Toggle this to the active position to replace the default background image. You can set images uploaded to the platform or your own image as the background by clicking the "Upload Background" button. For the best results, choose an image with a 16:9 aspect ratio.

Adding Lessons to the Online Course

In the created online course, go to the "Lessons" tab and click on the add lesson button.

You can add lessons from existing school materials or create lessons from scratch.

Learn how to create course exercises from our help center article: How to create learning materials.

After you finish creating the first lesson, click the "Back" button to return to the course's list of lessons. Similarly, create the required number of lessons.

Adding students to the online course

Once you've finished creating materials for your online course, you need to invite students to join. Follow these steps to invite participants to your course:

  1. Go to the "Students" tab in the course interface.

  2. Click on "Add Student."

  3. In the pop-up window, enter the email addresses of the students you want to add. If you're adding multiple email addresses, separate them with commas.

  4. Click "Add" to add the entered email addresses.

  5. Double-check the email addresses to ensure they are correct. You can edit or delete them if needed.

  6. Click "Next" to proceed to the payment section.

Before payment, specify the language in which participants will receive the invitation email and select the course curator. If there are multiple curators, choose a curator for each course participant.

Note that adding one student to your course costs 2 USD, but the first student you add is free. Students will have access to your course for one year, and the platform doesn't charge them any additional fees.

Once you're sure all the information is correct, click "Continue" to proceed to the payment stage. After completing the payment process, the student will receive an invitation to their email and access to your online course.

Allocating Students to Curators

When adding students to the online course during the payment step, you can select a curator for each student. Afterward, students will be assigned to the chosen curators.

If you already have students in the online course and you want to quickly allocate them to specific curators, go to the marathon card and navigate to "Curators" -> "Curator's students."

Check the boxes next to the students you want to assign to a curator.

❗️ Important Notes:

  1. You can assign all curators to a student, making them visible to all curators.

  2. If you choose multiple curators for one student, they will be visible to multiple curators, who can monitor their progress and assessments.

  3. If a student has no assigned curators, they can still complete the course, but they won't be visible to any curator.
