How to Initiate a Video Call
Navigate to the virtual classroom where your lesson is taking place.
Ensure that your students are also present in the virtual class, indicated by the green status displayed in the student list menu.
Click on the "Start a call" button.
Your web browser will then prompt you to allow camera and mic access. Be sure to grant the permissions as it is crucial for the proper functioning of video communication.
Once you test the camera and microphone, save your settings and start the video call session.
The students will hear the incoming call and see the incoming call popup. They need to answer the call.
Before joining the session they will be required to allow camera and mic access.
You're all set! Now you can see and hear each other while working in virtual classroom in real time.
Display Options for Video Communication Window
Choose from various display options for the video communication window:
Miniature: Compact mode for the video communication window. This is the default view.
Side-by-side: The video communication window takes up one-third of the screen on the right side.
Fullscreen: Expands the video communication window to the entire screen.
Speaker: Displays the speaker in the video communication window.
Gallery: Shows participants in the video communication session.
Pinning a video for everyone
In Gallery mode, you have the option to select whose camera signal everyone will see in Speaker and Compact mode. Hover the cursor over the participant's video window and click on the three dots on the video call screen, go to the list of students, and select "Pin the student/yourself for everyone." To unpin a student or yourself, click on the "Unpin the student/yourself for everyone" button. Note that the teacher's video is pinned by default.
Turning your camera or microphone off
If needed, you can easily turn off your camera and microphone during a video call. Simply click on the corresponding buttons in the video communication window.
Turning off students' cameras and microphones
To disable the camera and/or microphone for a student, open the list of all students (lower left icon in compact mode) go to the "Actions" menu next to their avatar in the video communication window and choose the desired option.
If you need to disable cameras and/or microphones for all participants, open the "Action" menu for "All students" and choose the necessary option.
For security reasons, if the students' cameras and microphones are off you cannot turn them back on remotely, but you can prompt students to do so. In "Actions" menu of one or all students select "Ask to turn on the video and mic" option.
The student(s) will receive a notification on their screen(s).
Screen Sharing
To showcase your screen to students, go to the additional functions menu in the video call window. Click on "Share screen" and choose the browser tab, app window, or the entire screen for demonstration.
End the screen-sharing session by clicking the "Stop sharing" button.
Raising and Lowering Hands
During a video conference, students have the option to raise their "hand". They can do this by clicking on the "..." menu on the video window and selecting "Raise hand."
Teachers can view a list of students who raised their hands by accessing the list through the hand icon in the video communication window. A blue icon appears next to the avatars of students who have raised their hands.
Teachers can lower the hand of a specific student or all students who raised their hands.
Finishing the call
To end the video conference session, click on the red phone icon in the video communication window. All students will be disconnected from the session.
After each video communication session, the system invites you to evaluate the call quality. Your feedback is crucial for us, as we use it to analyze and enhance the quality of video communication module.
