Live classes - Quick start

This article will guide you through the process of quickly starting online classes in real time on Edvibe.

Updated over a year ago

Edvibe's Live Classes offer tools for conducting face-to-face lessons with individual students or groups in real time. The teaching and learning experience takes place within virtual classrooms equipped with interactive exercises, video conferencing, interactive whiteboards, and other tools that ensure a seamless online education experience.

When you sign up as a teacher, your default account on Edvibe will be a Live Classes account.

You can also switch to this account type from the platform's header.

To begin teaching your first class on Edvibe, follow these three steps:

1. Invite a student to the platform

  • Go to the Classes/Students tab and click the "Add a student" button.

  • In the window that appears, enter the student's name, email address, select their native language (used for automatic translation), and their timezone (for scheduling purposes). Note that students can change this information later, except for the email address.

  • Once you've completed the form, click "Add a student".

  • The student will receive an invitation email with their password to the provided address. If necessary, you can copy this information to send it through another convenient method in case they don't receive the email.

Tip: If you're not ready to invite real students but want to familiarize yourself with the platform, you can create a test student account using any email address you have access to or ask a friend to assist you.

2. Create a class

  • After inviting a student, click "Add a class" on the following screen.

  • Select whether you want the class to be individual or a group class.

  • Optionally, you can change the cover picture and enter a class title.

  • Click "Add" when you're ready.

  • After entering the virtual classroom, the next step is to add a lesson to the class. To do this, locate the 'Add materials' button in the central part of the classroom or in the header and click on it.

  • In the window that opens, you can select a coursebook and unit from the catalog or your personal materials. Upon selecting a unit, it will open in preview mode.

  • While in preview mode, you can browse through the contents of the lesson. If you wish to preview another lesson, simply click "Back".

  • Once you have found the content you want to use, click 'Pin the unit'. This action will add the lesson to the classroom, making it visible to your student(s). They will be able to access and engage with the materials and exercises provided in the pinned unit.

3. Enter the virtual classroom simultaneously with your students

  • Instruct your student(s) to enter the classroom.

  • If you are online and in the same classroom, you will see their indicators in the upper right corner.

  • Once all students are in the classroom, you are ready to conduct the lesson. The answers to exercises, whiteboard content, and other tools will synchronize among all participants online.

  • You can communicate with your students using Edvibe's video conferencing tool, the classroom's chat feature, or any third-party app of your choice.
