Follow these steps to connect a Tesla to EEVEE

Before you start

In order to connect your Tesla you will need:

  • an active Tesla account

  • the Tesla app installed on your phone

  • ensure the software is up to date in your vehicle.

  • be the owner of the vehicle
    or have physical access to the vehicle using a Tesla keycard.


Steps to take

Before proceeding, ensure there are no pending updates for your vehicle and that it is fully up to date.

  1. Adding your vehicle to the EEVEE app

  2. Install the Virtual Key and give EEVEE access to your vehicle data.

Step 1 | Add your vehicle in the EEVEE-app

  1. Open the EEVEE app

  2. Go to the Settings

  3. Tap on your vehicle

  4. Tap on the button "Add car" (no worries, no data will be lost)

  5. Select Tesla

  6. Enter your Tesla credentials

  7. Select all requested permissions (vehicle data and location)

  8. Confetti should be shown when these are correct

Step 2 | Install the Virtual Key

  1. Look for an email (from CarConnect)
    The title is "Action required: complete your Tesla connection"

  2. Click on the link or open it here

    1. On mobile? Tap "Finish setup" and open the Tesla app

    2. On desktop? Scan the QR code to open the app

  3. Approve third party access to your vehicle

Attention: If you are not the owner of the vehicle, you will need to perform these steps when inside the vehicle and confirm the access via your Tesla Keycard. Check out the video for more info.


Does this mean EEVEE can now control my vehicle?

No! We only request permission for your vehicle's information and location. We do not have any access to the vehicle itself.

Removing your Tesla

Keep in mind if you ever sell or transfer car car you should also remove your Tesla from your Tesla-account. You can find the steps to do this on the Tesla-website.
