How do I change the charging rates?

Configure the pricing of a charging session or location

Updated over a year ago

To get an accurate picture of your EV charging costs, you will need to define the charging rate for a location. The app uses a predefined default price setting, which can be modified on a location and session basis. For Public charging for example this is set to 0.35/kWh.

How do I configure the pricing?

There are two ways to add or change the charging rate.

  1. Per location

Unsaved/new locations will automatically show a popup asking you to set up the location. You can also modify existing locations, by viewing an individual charging session or going to Settings > Known locations

  2. Per session

You can also set the charging rate for a single charging session. Click the Edit charging rate button and select Only this session when you have configured the new price.

And, don't forget to save afterwards. 👌

What pricing options are there?

Many locations use different pricing schemes. That's why you have these options:

⚡️ Price per kWh

Define up to 4 different kWh rates with a custom time schedule

⏱ Price per duration

Set a cost per 1 minute, per 15 minutes or per hour

☝️ Price per session

Enter a fixed cost for the entire session

🎉 Free charging

Mark your charging session as free

💡 Tip: To get accurate insights, don't mark a location as 'Free' if someone else pays for it. (E.g. through a charge pass, or when charging at work). Only set it to free when nobody needs to pay anything.

Good to know: you can also create combinations of costs. In some situations applying only rate is not sufficient. You can combine:

  • A cost per usage (kWh) + a session cost

  • A cost per usage (kWh) + a duration based cost

  • A cost per duration + a cost per usage (kWh)

Choose which sessions should use the new pricing

When changing the rate of a location you don't necessarily want all historic prices to change. That's why you have different options when modifying the pricing:

  • New sessions: Applies to all future charges at this location. Previous charging sessions remain unchanged.

  • From a specific day: All charges after a chosen date are recalculated. Future charges use the new rate.

  • Between 2 dates: All charges within a defined timeframe are recalculated, even if this is in the future.

  • Only this one: The selected charging session is recalculated. Pricing for other sessions at the location remain unchanged.

  • For all sessions: All historical charges will be recalculated. Future sessions will use the new pricing.
