Create an event from a template

Guide to using Effi’s pre-designed templates for your event.

Written by Daniella Bondar

Templates allow you to quickly create a livestream event with pre-built scenes, layouts, and interactive elements already configured. This is the fastest way to get started if you want a polished show without building everything from scratch.

Instead of designing every scene yourself, you can select a template and then customize it to fit your event.

Create an Event Using a Template

Open the Dashboard

When you first log in, you'll land on the Dashboard. This is where you can see all of your previous events and create new ones.

Browse the Templates

In the top row, you'll see a scrollable carousel of available templates alongside the New Event and Saved Templates options ( if you have created and saved a templates previously). Each template card displays a preview image and a name (e.g. Podcast/Talkshow, Product Launch, Live News, Fundraiser).

Click on any template card to select it.

Preview the Template

Once you click a template, a preview panel will expand below the carousel. This shows you the template name and description, explaining what the template is designed for and what features it includes, and a preview of some of the scenes in the selected template,

To see a preview of all of the scenes in the template, click "View All" this will show you:

  • A scene gallery on the left-hand side, listing all the scenes included in the template (e.g. "1 of 11 Scenes").

  • A large preview of the currently selected scene on the right.

This helps you confirm the template suits your event before committing.

Use the Template

When you're happy with your choice, click the "Use template" button. This option is available in both the the preview panel or the View All panel.

Name Your Event

After clicking "Use template" you will be prompted to enter the following:

  • Event name — Enter a name for your event (e.g. Podcast Event!). This name is for internal use only and will not be public to your audience.

  • Broadcast resolution — Select your preferred resolution from the dropdown. The default is 1080p (Full HD).

Once you're done, click Save & Open Stage.

To exit without creating the event, click Cancel.

You're did it!

Your new event will open directly in the Stage — Effi's live production environment. The template's scenes will be pre-loaded at the bottom of the screen (e.g. Scene 1 through Scene 6), and all the elements from the template will be ready for you to customize and go live with.

Once you have selected your template and created your event, all that's left to do is customize it.

Customize the Template

After creating the event, you can modify anything in the template to fit your branding and your broadcast.

You can:

  • Edit scene layouts

  • Update text and graphics

  • Replace logos or images

  • Adjust interactive elements like polls, meters, or QR codes

  • Add or remove scenes

Templates are simply a starting point — everything can be customized before you go live.

Scene Templates

Every templates comes with a series of pre-set scenes, but you can also change or add additional scenes from your current template or even choose one from a different template using Scene Templates.

Adding Scenes

Click "Add New Scene" and you will be be asked if you'd like to create a blank scene or choose one from a template. Selecting "Scene Template" will show you all the available pre-designed scenes.

You can choose scenes from your current template, or from any of the available templates. You can also filter by element. For example, only scene templates with polls.
