Setting up recording equipment

How to properly set up your recording equipment

1. Required Equipment


✔️ Mobile device with the Elevien app installed

✔️ Tripod (camera/mobile stand)
✔️ Phone holder (to securely attach the device to the tripod)
✔️ Charger or external battery (for extended recording)
✔️ Charging cable

2. Setting Up the Tripod

  • Place the tripod on a stable surface near the competition area.

  • Extend the tripod legs and ensure it is level for a stable recording.

  • Adjust the height so that the camera/phone captures the entire performance area.

3. Attaching the Device

  • Securely attach the mobile device to the tripod using the holder.

  • Attach the device horizontally (landscape).

  • Double-check that the device is properly fixed and positioned correctly.

  • Open the Elevien app and check the recording angle.

4. Adjusting the Recording Settings

  • Make sure the Elevien app is updated to the latest version.

  • Open the Elevien app and log in.

  • Select the competition recording option.

  • Adjust focus and lighting to ensure a clear video.

5. During the Recording

  • ✅ Check the recording angle - ensure that the entire routine is clearly visible and within the frame

  • ✅ Ensure proper camera distance

    • make sure the camera is far enough to capture the full range of the gymnast’s movements during the performance

  • ✅ Verify apparatus placement

    • if there are duplicate apparatuses in the gym (e.g., two floor areas), confirm with the judges or organizers which gymnast performs where.

  • ✅ Positioning near the judging table

    • the camera should be positioned as close as possible to the judging table of the apparatus being recorded, ensuring the gymnast remains fully visible without any obstructions

  • ✅ Avoid disruptions – do not walk or stand in front of the camera during recording to prevent interruptions.

  • ✅ Monitor battery status

    • ensure the device has sufficient power. Battery, recording status and activity can be monitored on the web (Recorders tab) or in the app (Manage tournament → Devices)
