Summary
You can generate and export invoices for individual matters directly from the Matter view in Eve. Speak with your Customer Success Manager to get this feature enabled.
Invoice creation will allow you to:
Generate a PDF invoice per matter.
Each invoice includes matter name, unique invoice ID, billing amount (calculated from your contract details with Eve), and invoice date.
A confirmation button will appear before generating the invoice to make final confirmations
💡 Once an invoice is generated, the matter name can no longer be changed and the matter can no longer be deleted to ensure billing accuracy and maintain a reliable audit history.
Why It Matters
This feature makes it easy for your firm to pass along Eve’s per-matter technology fee to your clients in a clear and auditable way. It also protects billing accuracy by locking invoiced matters from deletion.
How It Works
From the Matters dashboard, users can select “Generate Invoice” from the options menu.
A confirmation message will appear before the invoice is generated.
The PDF is automatically generated and downloaded when confirmed to be shared with clients or uploaded into the firm’s document management system. Here is an example below:
You can continue to export the same invoice as many times as you like after you generate your first invoice for that Matter.
Things to Know
💡 Depending on your plan with Eve, your firm may not qualify for this feature and it may require a subscription update. Please speak with your Customer Success Manager for more details.
The invoice date reflects the date of export, not matter creation
Invoice amounts are controlled by your contract with Eve and cannot be edited by the user
Matter names must be in their final form before generating an invoice (locked after generation)
The feature currently supports one invoice generated per matter, and the invoice can be exported multiple times.
