We're going to go over a series of best practices and tips that will help you get the most out of your experience with Eve. We're going to share some general tips and best practices for you to use as you work on key tasks. These are meant to help guide you to success, and our support team will help answer any specific questions that you may have.

In this article we include a video overview as well as written best practices and tips for you to employ as you work with Eve.

Best Practices and Tips

Be Specific

Where possible, use specific references to documents, arguments, etc. This will help give Eve more context for her answers.

Break large projects into small tasks

Eve is best suited to take on many small tasks, rather than one big ask. Ask Eve to perform a small task with each prompt, building through a series of questions and instructions to get the best performance.

For example: Don’t ask Eve to summarize multiple documents, provide potential claims, add possible rebuttals and give you future evidence needs all in one prompt, ask for each task individually, as its own message.

Provide Context

In the instructions tab, provide any relevant information and context that will help direct the investigation for the given task. Provide information about the case, the types of documents you’ve uploaded, and why.

💬 Example Message: I am working on a case with an employee that might have been wrongfully terminated. I am going to upload a document that has a call transcript from our conversation, where my client explained the situation.

Eve will be able to help you summarize the client intake faster and more accurately.

Provide File Context

Whenever possible, narrow down the active files in the session to just the ones you're asking questions about. This will improve quality of responses.

Verify

Ask Eve to check her work. We encourage you to prompt Eve to give quotes, citations, or explain how she arrived at an answer. If something doesn’t look right, ask Eve to drill-in and correct any results.

💬 Example Message 1: Can you check your work?

💬 Example Message 2: Can you provide direct quotes from the text to back up your claims?

💬 Example Message 3: Explain how you came to this conclusion.

Clear History

When working through a lengthy project, with many prompts and responses, we recommend that you clear out the conversation history, letting Eve focus on the task at hand. Use the “X” button at the top of your chat with Eve to clear history. For best results keep each tab with Eve focused on one topic or task.

Use individual Sessions for each case task

If you're working on long cases with multiple tasks, open a separate New session for each unique task. This will keep Eve focused on the work at hand, and allow you to maximize the quality of your responses. You can also open new sessions by sending a new message to Eve through the 'Talk to Eve' in the main page of your matter or by using one of the Skills.

Review your Past Sessions

You can revise the work performed by other teammates or your previous sessions by clicking the button. It will provide a search bar to access the sessions you need faster, as well as a drop-down menu to find sessions by Owners.

Notepad

Use the “Text Context” feature as a notepad: jot down notes and conversation overviews to help provide context and get more targeted answers. In particular, use this to note key takeaways and then “Clear History” (see above) to keep conversation with Eve focused.

To Note:

Data Limitations

Per “Tab” or project, you can upload a maximum of 1,000 documents, consisting of ~10,000 pages.

Case Citations

For best results, if you are conducting Legal Research or looking to cite contents of cases, you should use the Legal Research Skill. There is a risk of missing citations or case outcomes if Eve is not directed to the Legal Research repository of record.

LLM Limitations

  • Access the Internet: Eve is not connected to the internet.

  • Math and Numeric Calculations: Eve is not designed to tackle mathematical problems or calculations. Eve can understand numbers, page references, and can read in tables with numbers. Eve will not be able to help you perform calculations.
