What Happens If a Customer Transfers Their Ticket and Then Requests a Refund?

Updated today

If a ticket is transferred and later canceled, the refund will always go back to the original purchaser, the person who completed the transaction.

Why the Refund Goes to the Original Purchaser

  • Payment Tracking: The payment is tied to the original buyer's account. Transferring a ticket does not change the payment record.

  • Refund Process: Refunds are processed to the source of the original payment, which means the refund will go back to the person who paid.

  • Ticket Transfer: A transfer only updates who can use the ticket—it doesn’t change the financial details.

Event organizers should clearly communicate this to customers. If someone who received a transferred ticket requests a refund, they need to know the refund will be issued to the original buyer, not the current holder of the ticket.
