Letting your customers know about news, offers, and promotions for your store is an effective method for boosting sales. However, it's crucial to obtain permission from your customers before sending them marketing materials.
Usually, this option is asked on the checkout page or before they complete the order. Unfortunately, this feature is currently not available on the app. We understand how important it is for your business which is why we've devised an alternative method to request customer permission.
This article will show you how to set this up and ask for marketing permissions:
1. Start by going to the event and clicking on "Event settings."
2. Within the Event settings page, navigate to the "Attendee information" tab.
3. Scroll down to the Attendee information fields and then click on "Add custom field."
4. This will bring you to a window to create a new information field.
Set the "Type" to Checkbox.
For the label, in this example, we'll use "Email me with news and offers," but you can customize it to suit your specific request for email marketing permissions.
Leave the option "The attendee is required to complete this field" unchecked. This provides customers with the choice to decline.
5. Once you've configured the field, click on "Save."
Now, let's see how this appears when a customer purchases a ticket. When a customer buys a ticket, they'll need to complete the form before proceeding to checkout.
As you can see in the image, the checkout button is initially grayed out because customers must fill out the form before proceeding with the purchase.
Since you didn't mark the "The attendee is required to complete this field" option, customers can proceed whether or not they check the marketing permission field, giving them the flexibility to decline.
To identify attendees who agreed to receive news and offers via email, you can export the list of event attendees. We also have an article to guide you on how to export your attendees, you can view it here.
Once you have exported your attendees, to determine whether they agreed or not, you can scroll to the right and you’ll see the “Email me with news and offers” column. The attendees who agreed to receive marketing emails with show TRUE and those who declined will show FALSE.
