Shopify Permission Update: “write_app_proxy” Scope Required

Updated over 3 weeks ago

Shopify recently introduced a new permission requirement — write_app_proxy — for apps like Evey Events & Tickets that render pages directly in your storefront.

This update is part of Shopify’s ongoing security improvements and ensures that apps can continue displaying custom storefront pages safely and reliably.

What You’ll See

When this permission is required, a banner notification will appear inside your Evey admin dashboard.
The banner will prompt you to accept the new app permission.

Until the new permission is granted, certain storefront features will not load correctly - including:

  • Attendee Form (when displayed as a separate page)

  • Event Calendar

  • Event Registration Page

  • Waitlist Page

  • Other storefront pages rendered by Evey

Once you accept the permission request, these pages will automatically start working again.

What You Need to Do

  1. Log in to your Shopify admin.

  2. Open the Evey Events & Tickets app.

  3. Look for the banner at the top of the page requesting new permissions.

  4. Click “Update app permissions”:

This will redirect you to Shopify’s confirmation screen.

  5. Click "Update" to re-enable all storefront pages.

After you’ve accepted the new permission, the banner will disappear.
