Introduction

Follow these steps to create a "Journey" in our app, combining Stories, Experiences, and practical notes into a personalized travel itinerary that helps you plan—and later, share—your unique story.

The essence of Fernwayer's app lies in its card-based system—cards for Stories, Experiences, and practical notes that, when combined, craft your unique Journey, our term for an itinerary. From Note cards detailing dining and transport arrangements to Stay cards for hotels (note: these are text-only, without images), the app enables you to weave together a narrative of your travel days. Once assembled, you can visually track your itinerary across 4 or 5 days, viewing all locations on a map either daily or for the entire Journey.

What You Need Before Starting

  • An idea of your travel destination, dates, and what you'd like to experience.

  • It helps to have a Dreamboard where you have gathered Stories, Experiences, etc., for your destination, but you can also use our Search functionality to build your Journey.

Creating Your Journey Step-by-Step:

  1. Start with a Summary: Begin by detailing the Journey's name, duration, and add a brief description.

  2. Define Your Search: Input the city where you're seeking Experiences. Then, head back to the Journey overview.

  3. Build Day by Day:

    1. Tap the pencil icon in the upper right corner to enter these details.

    2. Navigate from the Summary to Day 1 by swiping left. Here, you can add to your Journey by selecting Story cards or Experience cards or your Fernwayer Bookings.

    3. To include a Story or Experience, swipe up to view its details and tap "Add to Journey." You'll need to set start and end times by adjusting the hour, minute, and AM/PM dials. Feel free to add comments, these don’t become public if your Journey is shared—so you can include confirmation numbers, booking details etc. Confirm your additions with the pink checkmark on the card's top left corner.

    4. Ensure each Note card, whether for restaurants or transport, includes a street address to enable saving.

  4. Continue Adding Cards: Swipe to access more cards—Stories, Experiences, Bookings, and more—to fill your day. Finish Day 1 by tapping the pencil icon, signaling you're done editing.

  5. Proceed to Next Day: Swipe left from Day 1 to commence Day 2. Activate the day's editing by clicking the grey pencil icon, turning it pink, and repeat the process of selecting and adding cards.

  6. Inserting or Deleting a Day: When you are editing a Day, you can go to the three dots next to the Day’s headline, click to see the menu options – insert a day before, insert a day after, or delete a day.

  7. Complete and Save: After finalizing all days, click the "x" at the top. This action saves your Journey and redirects you to "My Profile," where it's stored for later editing or publishing.

  8. View the Map: as a summary view or Day by day. You can also download a PDF of the entire Journey.

Sharing Your Journey:

  • When you're set to share your Journey, select it and hit the “Make Public” button.

  • Add “Memories”—up to four photos and an optional video—and a brief 100-character description to give others a glimpse of your experience. Don't forget to include the city name.

  • Making your Journey public allows others to discover and draw inspiration from your itinerary, potentially crafting their adventures based on yours.

Three Ways to Build the Journey

  1. From a Dreamboard

  2. From Search

  3. By Copying another Traveler’s Journey (click the “copy” icon on a Journey’s main page)
