How do I post a shift?

How to post a shift from the dashboard, and what to include so it gets filled.

Written by Stephen Paul

You post shifts from the Florence dashboard. You'll need the location and unit, the role you need, the date, the start and finish times, the break, and the rate.

A few things make a real difference to whether a shift gets filled.

Post as early as you can. Workers plan their weeks, and a shift posted a fortnight out will always do better than one posted the night before.

Check the rate. Each care home sets its own rate, and workers can see every shift near them. If yours is below what similar homes are offering, expect fewer applications.

Get the times and the break right. Workers are paid for the hours on the shift, minus the unpaid break. If the break is wrong, the pay shown to them is wrong.

Use the right role. Only workers registered for that role will see the shift. If you post an RN shift when a PSW would do, you're narrowing your own pool.

If you need someone today, post the shift as urgent and call us on 647-247-4916 so we can chase it.

Once the shift is live, workers apply and you choose who to approve. Applying isn't the same as being booked, so nothing is confirmed until you approve someone.

If a shift isn't getting applications, read our article "My shift isn't getting any applications".
