How to Use Autonomous Mode vs Manual Confirmation Mode

Updated this week

The AI Assistant can operate in two modes that control whether it asks for your approval before making changes.

Manual confirmation mode (default)

In manual mode, the assistant presents each proposed action for your approval before executing it.

  • You see exactly what will change before it happens.

  • When using the action queue, the assistant submits the next queued item only after you confirm the current one.

  • Best for: administrators, sensitive changes, getting comfortable with the assistant.

Autonomous mode

In autonomous mode, the assistant executes actions immediately without stopping for confirmation.

  • Actions are processed in the background as soon as you submit them.

  • The queue works continuously β€” you can keep talking or scanning while the assistant works.

  • Best for: field technicians, bulk operations, live stream workflows, daily inspection tours.

How to switch modes

  1. Open the AI Assistant.

  2. Toggle the Auto switch in the assistant panel.

  3. When Auto is on, you're in autonomous mode. When it's off, you're in manual mode.

Tips

  • You can switch modes at any time during a conversation.

  • For live stream workflows (equipment tagging, inventory counts, inspection tours), autonomous mode is strongly recommended so you can move continuously without waiting for confirmations.
