In order to make it possible for national brands to book ads at hundreds of campuses at once, all student media must work together to make it as easy as possible.
Each student media office offers unique products to attract local buyers and often has unique policies too. The Ad Shop can accommodate any customization you can dream up.
Unfortunately, national brands are generally unable to take advantage of unique products, and trying to abide by 100 different student media policies would be prohibitively difficult - it would be easier not to buy ads at all!
Therefore, many rules you set up for the Ad Shop won’t apply to national ad campaigns.
Here's a quick breakdown of what makes national ads unique from Ad Shop ads:
You communicate with the Flytedesk team about national ads, not with the buyer directly. (Flytedesk handles that part for you.)
Flytedesk takes a 20% commission on all national ads we sell for you.
The national creative will always be downloadable 4 days before the ad is scheduled to run. (If you need it earlier for any reason, reach out to your account manager.)
Verifications for national ads should be submitted on the scheduled run date and must be submitted no later than 3 days after the run date and must follow our verification guidelines. A Flytedesk campaign manager will approve them. (You are encouraged but not required to upload verifications for Ad Shop ads.)
National buyers are not required to pay you if the ad didn't run, ran incorrectly, or wasn't verified.
What happens if the creative is late?
If the creative is late, we'll reschedule the ads to a later date.
What if the ad is the wrong size for my paper/website/news rack?
Buyers create standard creative sizes that work for most college media organizations. We recommend re-sizing the creative to fit your specs if it's slightly off. If re-sizing will noticeably distort the ad, please notify your Account Manager.
What if I don't want to run a national buyer's ad?
You can always reject a national ad or order if it's counter to your advertising policies. However, please only do this if running the national ad is truly impossible for your organization. Otherwise, rejecting an ad or order could affect your chance of receiving national ads in the future. We encourage all college media publications to create an ad policy that clearly defines what your organization is willing or not willing to run.
If you have questions or concerns about a national ad or order, we are here to help you. Just reach out to supplyops@flytedesk.com or call your Account Manager.
