For now, only the Primary Trading Contact (the person authorised by the farm business) on the existing Trading Among Farmers platform will have access to manage Fonterra Co-op shares (and units in the Fonterra Shareholders’ Fund if relevant) on Sharesies.

Other owners of the farm business will be invited to sign up later.

How to activate your Sharesies account

You can activate your Sharesies account on either a computer or smartphone. You’ll need to have your phone handy to enter a security code we’ll text you.

Your details have been provided to us by Fonterra—you’ll just need to check that they’re correct. You won’t need to provide any ID or documents.

Activating your account should only take about 5 minutes. Here’s what you’ll need to do:

  1. Check your inbox for an account activation email from Sharesies—if you haven’t received this, contact Fonterra’s Farmer Support team (0800 65 65 68).

  2. Click the button in the email, and confirm your name and phone number—if they’re incorrect, you’ll need to contact Fonterra’s Farmer Support team (0800 65 65 68).

  3. Enter the security code we’ll text you.

  4. Confirm the details of the farm business—including whether it’s a Prescribed Person.

  5. Answer two nature and purpose questions about how you plan to use the platform.

  6. Enter your login details if you already have a Sharesies account in your own name, or provide a few details to create a new one.

Once you’re set up, you’ll see the farm businesses for which you’re the Primary Trading Contact.

You can switch between your business profile and personal Sharesies profile by going to the profile switcher—it’s in the top-right corner if you’re in the Sharesies app, or top-left corner if you’re on a desktop computer.
