Configuration of Slack Digests in FORA

Updated this week

STEP 1: In FORA App - Connect to Your Slack Workspace

  • In the FORA App, navigate to Summarize > Slack Channels

    • Contact your admin if you see the following message:"Connect Slack: FORA needs access to Slack in order to create Slack Digests of your channels. Contact us or your admin for details."

    • If you’re the admin/executive click Connect Slack button

      • Follow the on-screen instructions to authorize the connection to Slack.

      • Once connected, the FORA app will appear under the Apps section in Slack (see screenshot below).

  • Note: This is a one-time setup and applies to your entire organization.

STEP 2: In Slack - Add FORA Bot to Public Slack Channels

  • Note: FORA can only summarize public Slack channels (not private ones). Any user can add FORA to a public channel

  • To add FORA to a channel:

    1. Go to the public Slack channel you want to summarize.

    2. Type the command /invite @FORA

    3. Once added, you will see a confirmation message like the screenshot below in Slack.

STEP 3: In FORA App - Create a Slack Channel Digest

  • NOTE: After adding the FORA integration to your workspace, users can choose to summarize one or more channels at regular intervals. For example, a user could create a Sales Weekly Digest that summarizes all messages from the #sales channel on a weekly basis. Users can also combine multiple channels into a single summary for easier access and better analysis.

  • Navigate to Summarize > Slack Channels.

  • Create a Slack Digest for the channels which you added FORA in Step 2.

  • You may select single or multiple channels to summarize.

  • Choose whether to summarize messages on a daily, weekly, or monthly cadence

    • Daily – Repeats every day at midnight.

    • Weekly – Repeats every Sunday at midnight.

    • Monthly – Repeats on the last day of each month at midnight.

Once you create a Slack Digest, it will appear under Recent Summaries after summarization.

To Filter Slack Digests

  2. Apply the following filter:
