How to complete an XLeRobot mission using a game controller

This guide walks you through how to start, play, and complete an XLeRobot mission using a game controller.

Controller Compatibility Note

This guide uses standard Xbox-style button labels (A, B, X, Y, RB, RT).

If you are using a PlayStation or another controller, the controls work the same way, but the button names may appear differently on your device. Use the button mapping below to match the controls to your controller.

Start an XLeRobot Mission

  1. Open Google Chrome and go to https://telearms.com.

  2. From the left sidebar menu, click Live Control.

  3. Under Robot Type, select XLeRobot.

  4. Choose a mission and click Play Now.

  5. Once the video feed loads, press A or X on your game controller to enable controller input.

  6. The mission guide video will appear. Review the instructions, then click Close at the lower left when you are ready.

  7. Click Start mission to begin.


During the Mission

Follow the steps shown in the mission guide video.

XLeRobot has three main parts you control:

  • The base (body) for movement and positioning

  • The left arm for interacting with objects

  • The right arm for interacting with objects

Use the controller controls below as you move, position the arms, and complete the mission objectives.


XLeRobot Game Controller Controls

Base Movement

Use the left joystick to move the robot’s base:

  • Push the joystick forward to move forward

  • Pull the joystick backward to move backward

  • Push the joystick left to move left

  • Push the joystick right to move right

Base Rotation

Use the right joystick to rotate the robot:

  • Push the joystick left to rotate counterclockwise

  • Push the joystick right to rotate clockwise


Left Arm Controls

Move the Left Arm

Hold RB, then use the left joystick:

  • Push forward to move the arm forward

  • Pull backward to move the arm backward

  • Push left to move the arm left

  • Push right to move the arm right

Left Arm Pitch and Roll

Hold LB + LT, then use the left joystick:

  • Push forward or backward to pitch the arm

  • Push left or right to roll the arm

Left Arm Up and Down

Hold LB, then press:

  • Up to raise the arm

  • Down to lower the arm

Left Gripper Controls

  • Press Right to open the left gripper

  • Press Left to close the left gripper

Reset Left Arm Position

  • Press LT + Right to reset the left arm to its original position


Right Arm Controls

Move the Right Arm

Hold RB, then use the right joystick:

  • Push forward to move the arm forward

  • Pull backward to move the arm backward

  • Push left to move the arm left

  • Push right to move the arm right

Right Arm Pitch and Roll

Hold RB + RT, then use the right joystick:

  • Push forward or backward to pitch the arm

  • Push left or right to roll the arm

Right Arm Up and Down

Hold RB, then press:

  • Y to raise the arm

  • A to lower the arm

Right Gripper Controls

  • Press X to open the right gripper

  • Press B to close the right gripper

Reset Right Arm Position

  • Press RT + X to reset the right arm to its original position


Tips for Better Control

  • Position the base first before adjusting the arms

  • Use slow joystick movements for precise arm placement

  • Reset an arm if it becomes misaligned before continuing


Complete the Mission

Once you have completed the mission objective shown in the guide video, click Complete mission at the bottom of the screen.

After submitting, you will see:

Mission complete! We’re scoring your mission now. Check back soon to see how many points you earned.

Your results will update after scoring is finished. You can review your mission status and score in Mission History on your dashboard.
