What does it mean to complete a mission?

Updated this week

Finishing a mission means ending the mission run.

It does not automatically mean you completed the objective successfully.

A mission can end in two ways:

Completing a Mission

You successfully follow all steps in the mission description and click Complete mission. This results in the highest possible score, assuming your actions were relevant.

Failing a Mission

You do not fully complete the objective, but you attempted the task.

A failed mission can still:

  • Be considered relevant

  • Be scored

  • Earn points and Qualified Minutes

Failing a mission does not automatically mean zero points.

Why This Matters

  • Each mission is scored once when it ends

  • Spending extra time doing unnecessary actions does not multiply your score

  • A long mission run is still counted as one mission

  • Completing multiple missions correctly results in more total points and QM

Points come from relevant actions, not from time alone

What Counts Toward Scoring

Scoring is based on relevant duration, which is the time spent performing actions that align with the mission objective.

  • If you actively attempt the task, your mission has relevant duration and can earn points

  • If you do not move or attempt any task-related action, the mission has no relevant duration, even if it runs for a long time

Mission Examples

1. Put a Block Into a Box

This mission only requires one block to be placed into the box.

  • Attempting to move the robot, position the gripper, and pick up the block
→ Mission is relevant, even if the block is not successfully placed

  • Letting the mission run without moving or interacting
→ Mission has no relevant duration and earns no points

Placing additional blocks does not increase your score and only uses time that could be spent completing more missions.

2. Pick Up 2 Bottles; Place on Another Table

This mission requires two bottles to be picked up and placed on the specified table.

  • Attempting to move the robot toward the bottles, position the gripper, and pick up one or both bottles
→ Mission is relevant, even if both bottles are not successfully placed

  • Letting the mission run without moving or interacting with the bottles
→ Mission has no relevant duration and earns no points

Placing more than two bottles or performing extra actions does not increase your score.

Key Takeaway

  • Finishing a mission means ending the run

  • Completing a mission means successfully fulfilling the objective

  • Failing a mission can still earn points if your actions were relevant

To earn higher total points and Qualified Minutes:

  • Follow the mission title and description

  • Complete missions efficiently

  • Move on to the next mission or redo the mission instead of overdoing a single one

This approach maximizes both your score and QM over time.
