How to use RoboCap with RoboWrist

This guide walks you through how to set up, pair, wear, and record with your RoboCap + RoboWrist.

What You’ll Need

Your RoboCap + RoboWrist package includes:

  • 1 RoboCap

  • Pair of RoboWrists – one for the left wrist and one for the right wrist

You will also need:

  • Power bank – not included, but required for normal use

    • Recommended: Use a power bank rated at 5V 3A for the best performance.

Important: RoboCap's built-in battery is intended as a backup only and supports approximately 5–15 minutes of use. Keep RoboCap connected to an external power bank during normal use.

Before using RoboCap + RoboWrist, familiarize yourself with the physical controls. You will use these throughout the guide.

Using RoboCap + RoboWrist

Once you're familiar with the controls and have everything ready, follow the steps below to set up your devices and start recording.

1. Power On RoboCap

  1. Using a USB-C cable, connect the RoboCap’s USB-C port to your power bank.

  2. Toggle the Power Switch to ON.

  3. Wait approximately 10 seconds.

When the indicator light turns red, RoboCap is powered on and ready.

RoboCap Indicator Lights

  • 🔴 Red – Powered on, not recording

  • 🟢 Green – Recording in progress

  • 🔵 Blue – Recorded data is being saved. Do not power off.


2. Power On and Pair the RoboWrists

You will need to power on both the left and right RoboWrist.

  1. On each RoboWrist, press and hold the left red button to turn it on.

  2. Wait while the RoboWrists connect and synchronize with RoboCap.

Check the right LED on each RoboWrist to see its status:

  • 🌈 Flashing RGB – The device is synchronizing

  • 🔴 Solid Red – Synchronization is complete, and the device is ready

Wait until the right LED on both RoboWrists is solid red before continuing.


3. Put On the Wristbands

Put the RoboWrist wristbands on your left and right wrists.

Adjust each wristband so it fits securely and comfortably without restricting your movement.


4. Attach the RoboWrists

Check the marking on each RoboWrist before attaching it:

  • L → Left wrist

  • R → Right wrist

Attach each RoboWrist securely to its corresponding wristband.

Make sure both devices remain firmly attached while you move your hands and wrists.


5. Put On RoboCap

Put on RoboCap and adjust the strap until it sits securely and comfortably on your head.

Before recording, confirm that:

  • RoboCap is powered on and connected to the power bank

  • The RoboCap indicator light is red

  • Both RoboWrists are powered on

  • The right LED on both RoboWrists is solid red

Once all devices are ready, you can start recording.


6. Start Recording

Press the Operation Button on RoboCap once. RoboCap will start recording and trigger data collection across the synchronized devices.

You can confirm that recording has started by checking the lights:

🔵 Slowly blinking blue

Once you see these indicators, RoboCap and both RoboWrists are recording.


7. Stop Recording

Press the Operation Button on RoboCap to stop recording.

On RoboCap

The indicator light will go through the following sequence:

🟢 Green → 🔴 Red → 🔵 Blue → 🔴 Red

  • 🟢 Green – Recording in progress

  • 🔴 First Red – Recording has stopped

  • 🔵 Blue – Recorded data is being saved

  • 🔴 Final Red – Recording has been fully saved

On the RoboWrists

The right LED will return to solid red, indicating that recording has stopped.

⚠️ Important: Do not start another recording or power off the devices while RoboCap is still saving data.

Wait until RoboCap completes the full Green → Red → Blue → Red sequence. Once you see the final red light, wait at least 5 seconds before starting another recording or powering off the devices.


9. Power Off

When you're finished recording, make sure your final recording has been completely saved before turning off the devices.

RoboCap

  1. Confirm the indicator light has returned to red after the blue saving stage.

  2. Wait at least 5 seconds.

  3. Toggle the Power Switch to OFF.

RoboWrists

On each RoboWrist, press and hold the left red button to turn off.


10. Exporting Your Data

  1. Keep the RoboCap powered on and connected to a power bank

  2. Connect a USB-C data cable to RoboCap's USB-C port located at the front end of the central axis of the visor

  3. Connect the other end of the cable to your computer

  4. Within 3–5 seconds, the device will appear as a removable drive on your computer

How Your Data Is Organized

Recorded data is organized into session folders.

Inside each session folder, you'll find:

  • Camera recordings.mp4 files

  • IMU sensor data.db files

  • MAG sensor data.db files
