This guide walks you through how to set up, pair, wear, and record with your RoboCap + RoboWrist.
What You’ll Need
Your RoboCap + RoboWrist package includes:
1 RoboCap
Pair of RoboWrists – one for the left wrist and one for the right wrist
You will also need:
Power bank – not included, but required for normal use
Recommended: Use a power bank rated at 5V 3A for the best performance.
Important: RoboCap's built-in battery is intended as a backup only and supports approximately 5–15 minutes of use. Keep RoboCap connected to an external power bank during normal use.
Buttons and Controls (Start Here)
Before using RoboCap + RoboWrist, familiarize yourself with the physical controls. You will use these throughout the guide.

RoboWrist Indicator Lights
New Firmware
RoboWrist has two indicator lights. The left light shows battery and charging status, while the right light shows connection and recording status.
Left Indicator Light (Battery Status)
The left indicator light is normally off when RoboWrist is not charging.

⚪ Blinking white while connected to power | Charging |
⚪ Solid white while connected to power | Fully charged |
⚪ Rapidly blinking white when not charging | Battery is below 10%. Charge RoboWrist as soon as possible. |
Right Indicator Light (Connection and Recording Status)
Indicator | Meaning |
🟢 Solid green | RoboWrist is idle / not recording |
🔴 Solid red | Recording is in progress |
Older Firmware
RoboWrist has indicator lights that show its battery level and recording status.
Left Indicator Light (Battery Status)
Indicator | Meaning |
🟢 Green | Battery above 90% |
🟡 Yellow | Battery above 80% |
🔴 Red | Battery at 20% or below |
Right Indicator Light (Connection and Recording Status)

⚪ Flashing white | RoboWrist is in standby mode / not recording |
🔴🟢🔵 Flashing red, green, and blue | Connecting to RoboCap |
🔴 Solid red | Connected to RoboCap / Not recording |

Using RoboCap + RoboWrist
Follow the steps below to set up your RoboCap and RoboWrists, start recording, and safely power off your devices.
Note: Indicator light colors may vary depending on the firmware installed on each device. This guide covers both older and newer firmware.
Step 1: Power On RoboCap
Using the provided USB-C cable, connect RoboCap's rear USB-C power port to a power bank with a 5V/3A (15W) output.
Press the RoboCap Power Button.
Wait for RoboCap to finish starting up.
When RoboCap is powered on and not recording, its indicator light will show:

Important: Keep RoboCap connected to the power bank throughout use.
Step 2: Power On and Connect the RoboWrists
On the first RoboWrist, press and hold the left red button for approximately 3 seconds to turn it on.
Repeat for the second RoboWrist.
Wait while both RoboWrists connect to RoboCap.
Check the right indicator light on each RoboWrist:

Note: On both firmware versions, the left indicator light shows battery status. On newer firmware, a rapidly flashing white left light means the battery is below 10%.
For older firmware, wait until the right light turns solid red before continuing.
For newer firmware, the right light should be solid green when the RoboWrist is idle. This indicates that it is not recording, but does not by itself confirm a successful connection to RoboCap.
Step 3: Put On the Wristbands
Put the RoboWrist wristbands on your left and right wrists.
Adjust each wristband so it fits securely and comfortably without restricting your movement.
Step 4: Attach the RoboWrists
Check the marking on each RoboWrist:
L – Left wrist
R – Right wrist
Attach each RoboWrist to its corresponding wristband.
Make sure the RoboWrist cameras point toward your fingers and both devices are securely attached.
Step 5: Put On RoboCap
Put on RoboCap and adjust the strap until it fits securely and comfortably on your head.
Before recording, confirm that:
RoboCap is powered on and connected to the power bank.
Both RoboWrists are powered on and securely attached.
All devices show the expected not-recording indicators.

Once your devices are ready, you can start recording.
Step 6: Start Recording
Press the Record Button on RoboCap once.
RoboCap will start recording and automatically trigger recording on both connected RoboWrists.
Check the indicator lights to confirm recording has started.

When all devices show their corresponding recording indicators, recording is in progress.
Step 7: Pause Recording
Press the Record Button on RoboCap again to pause recording.
RoboCap and both RoboWrists will pause together.
Check that the devices are no longer showing their recording indicators.
Important: Make sure recording is paused before connecting RoboCap to your computer to export recorded files.
Step 8: Power Off
When you're finished, make sure recording is paused before turning off your devices.
RoboWrists
Press and hold the left red button on one RoboWrist for approximately 3 seconds to turn it off.
Repeat for the other RoboWrist.
RoboCap
Turn off RoboCap using its Power Button.
Once all devices are powered off, disconnect RoboCap from the power bank.
Step 9. Export Your Data
Keep the RoboCap powered on and connected to a power bank
Connect a USB-C data cable to RoboCap's USB-C port located at the front end of the central axis of the visor
Connect the other end of the cable to your computer
Within 3–5 seconds, the device will appear as a removable drive on your computer
How Your Data Is Organized
Recorded data is organized into session folders.
Inside each session folder, you'll find:

.mp4filesIMU sensor data –
.dbfilesMAG sensor data –
.dbfiles
The first 16 characters are your RoboCap device ID. For example: b355b9d3038e318
