Follow the steps below to update the firmware on your RoboCap.
ℹ️ Note: Updating the firmware will not delete your recorded data or reset your existing device settings.
What You'll Need
RoboCap
Power bank
2 USB-C cables
Computer or laptop
RoboCap 16-character ID
Firmware update file
⚠️ Important: Keep RoboCap connected to a power bank throughout the entire firmware update process. Do not turn off the RoboCap or disconnect its power while the update is in progress. Interrupting the update may cause the device to become unusable.
Step 1: Download RoboCap firmware
Open your browser and go to ota.robocap.io.
Enter your RoboCap ID or 3-word code, then click Look up firmware.
If you don't know your RoboCap ID or 3-word code, follow our How to Find Your RoboCap Device ID guide.
Once your device's firmware is found, click Download Firmware.
The firmware file will download automatically and is typically saved in your computer's Downloads folder.
Step 2: Power On RoboCap
Connect RoboCap to your power bank.
Toggle the Power Switch to ON.
Wait approximately 5–10 seconds.
When the indicator light turns red, RoboCap is powered on and ready.
Step 3: Connect RoboCap to Your Computer
Keep RoboCap powered on and connected to the power bank.
Connect a different USB-C data cable to the RoboCap's USB-C port at the front end of the central axis of the visor.
Connect the other end of the cable to your computer or laptop.
Wait approximately 5–10 seconds.
RoboCap should appear as a removable drive on your computer or laptop.
Step 3: Copy the Firmware File to RoboCap
Open the RoboCap drive on your computer or laptop.
Locate the firmware update file. This will usually be in your Downloads folder or wherever you saved the file.
Copy the firmware file.
Paste the file into the RoboCap drive.
Wait until the file has completely finished copying.
⚠️ Do not disconnect RoboCap from the computer while the file is still being copied.
Step 4: Unplug the USB Cable from Computer
Once the file transfer is complete, safely disconnect the USB data cable from your computer or laptop.
IMPORTANT: Do not turn off the RoboCap or disconnect it from the power bank
Step 5: Wait for the Firmware Update to Begin
After disconnecting RoboCap from your computer or mobile device, the firmware update will begin automatically.
During the update, the indicator behavior may vary between RoboCap devices:
🟡 The indicator may flash yellow while the firmware is being installed.
🟡 On some devices, the indicator may become solid yellow before turning off.
On other devices, the indicator may turn off without showing a yellow light.
When the indicator light turns off, RoboCap is restarting automatically.
⚠️ Important: Do not turn off RoboCap, disconnect the power bank, or press any buttons during this process. Wait for RoboCap to restart.
Step 6: Finish the Update
The indicator light may remain off for approximately 30 seconds while RoboCap restarts.
Do not turn off RoboCap or disconnect the power bank while the indicator light is off.
Wait for the indicator light to turn red or green.
Once the indicator light turns red or green, RoboCap has finished restarting, the firmware update is complete, and the device is ready to use.
