How to Change the RoboCap Recording Duration

By default, RoboCap saves recordings in segments. You can change the duration of each recording segment by connecting to the RoboCap's Wi-Fi network and updating the Segment Duration setting.

The duration is set in seconds.

Step 1: Find Your RoboCap Device ID

If you don't already know your RoboCap device ID:

  1. Record a short video with your RoboCap.

  2. Keep RoboCap powered on.

  3. Connect RoboCap to your computer using a USB-A to USB-C data cable.

  4. Open the RoboCap drive and locate the recording folder.

  5. Check the folder name. The first 16 characters are your RoboCap device ID.

Step 2: Connect to the RoboCap Wi-Fi

On your computer:

  1. Open your Wi-Fi settings.

  2. Look for the RoboCap Wi-Fi network named Robocap_xxx.

  3. Connect to the network using the password: 12345678

Step 3: Open the RoboCap Settings Page

  1. Open a browser on your computer.

  2. Go to 192.168.11.1.

  3. On the page, enter 192.168.11.1 in the IP field.

  4. Click Connect MQTT.

  5. Wait up to 30 seconds for the RoboCap device information and settings to appear.

Step 4: Set the Recording Segment Duration

Find the Segment Duration setting and enter your preferred duration.

The value is entered in seconds.

For example:

  • 300 = 5 minutes

  • 600 = 10 minutes

  • 1200 = 20 minutes

Save or apply the new setting.

Step 5: Confirm the New Duration

After the setting has been successfully updated:

  1. Start a new recording on RoboCap.

  2. Record for long enough to create a complete segment.

  3. Connect RoboCap to your computer and check the recorded files.

Each new video segment should now use the duration you configured.

Note: The duration setting controls the length of each saved video segment. It does not limit how long you can continue recording overall.
