This guide will help you get your specific printer set up to print your Visitor Management Guest Badges

Guide for the printer

If you do not have the model listed above, please reach out to us at support@gable.to and we can obtain the instructions for your specific printer.

Wi-Fi setup

Before moving onto the steps, you need to make sure your printer is connected to your wifi.

Step 1: Configure your printer

  1. If you’re not already on the main screen, navigate there now using [↩] button.

  2. Press the [Menu] button.

  3. Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select WLAN > WLAN (On/Off) > On in the settings menu. Press [OK].

  4. Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select WLAN > Infra Manual Setting in the settings menu. Press [OK]. Your printer will search for available Wi-Fi networks. Remember, your printer and iPad will be on the same network.

  5. Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select your desired network. Press OK.

  6. Provide your password - Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select the correct characters. It will say "connected" once it connects successfully.

  7. Press the [↩] button to return to the main screen. You should see the Wi-Fi icon in the top right.

Step 2: Find the IP address of the printer

  1. Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select WLAN > WLAN Status > Infrastructure Mode in the settings menu. Press [OK].

  2. Next to IP Addr, you’ll see the IP address. (series of digits identifies your specific printer).

Step 3: Pair the printer with Gable

  1. On your computer, go to your Gable Admin account and go to ‘Company admin’ → ‘Settings’ → ‘Visitor Management’

  2. Click on ‘Connected HQs’ and then click on the printer icon for the relevant HQ.

  3. Select your printer model

  4. Select Wi-fi

  5. Name your printer in a name that will be easy to recognize.

  6. Type the printer IP address under ‘IP Address’ and click ‘Save’.

Step 4: Test Printer

  1. Use the iPad to make the full visitor sign-in.

Ethernet setup

Step 1: Configure your printer

First, you need to make sure your printer is connected to your wifi.

  1. Connect the Ethernet cable to the port on the back of the printer.

  2. Depending on your setup, connect the other end of the Ethernet into the LAN port in your desk, wall, or directly into your router.

  3. Press the power button to turn on the printer. Make sure the green status light comes on.

  4. Use the [▲], [▼] and [OK] buttons to set your language, the time and date as prompted.

Step 2: Find the IP address of the printer

  1. Use the [▲] and [▼] buttons to select Menu > Information > Print Configuration > All > Start in the settings menu. Press [OK].

  2. Nine badges will print. Discard the first six. On the seventh badge, locate IP Address. (series of digits identifies your specific printer).

Step 3: Pair the printer with Gable

  1. On your computer, go to your Gable Admin account and go to ‘Company admin’ → ‘Settings’ → ‘Visitor Management’

  2. Click on ‘Connected HQs’ and then click on the printer icon for the relevant HQ.

  3. Select your printer model (Brother-QL-820NWB)

  4. Select Ethernet

  5. Name your printer

  6. Type the printer IP address under ‘IP Address’ and click ‘Save’.

Step 4: Test Printer

  1. Use the ipad to make a full visitor sign-in.

  2. If the badge doesn’t automatically print, please contact us.

Connect your Visitors tablet to Gable

Download the Gable Visitors App

On your iPad, download the Gable Visitors App from the app store

Connect iPad to specific HQ


Next, you need to scan the QR code of the specific HQ you want to connect the tablet to

  • On your computer go to your Gable Admin account and go to ‘Company admin’ → ‘Settings’ → ‘Visitor Management’

  • Click on ‘Connected HQs’ and then click on the QR icon for the relevant HQ.

  • Scan the QR code with your visitors tablet camera.

  • Your tablet should connect and be available for your first visitor.

Test your iPad

  • Sign is as a visitor through the visitor’s tablet.

  • On your computer, go to your Gable Admin account and go to ‘Company visits’

The visitor record should appear in your visitors list.

Recommended settings

"Auto Power Off"

If the "Auto Power Off" option is set, the machine will power off after it has been idle for the selected time period.

Follow the instructions below to disable this option

  1. Press the [Menu] button.

  2. Select [Settings] using the [▲] and [▼] buttons, and then press [OK].

  3. Select [Auto Power Off] using the [▲] and [▼] buttons, and then press [OK].

  4. Select [Adapter] using the [▲] and [▼] buttons, and then press [OK].

  5. Select [Off] using the [▲] and [▼] buttons, and then press the [OK].
