What Smart Forecast Does

Smart Forecast suggests forecast amounts for your production records based on your district's historical data in Gaia. It is most useful once you have submitted several weeks of production records or have prior forecasts to learn from.

Running Smart Forecast on a Single Production Record

  1. Open the weekly production view.

  2. Click the three-dot menu on the daily production record card you want to forecast.

  3. Select Smart Forecast.

  4. Choose the data scope (see below).

  5. Choose whether to base suggestions on the amount forecasted or the amount served.

  6. Review the suggested amounts.

  7. Click Update Forecast to apply the suggestions to the production record.

Data Scope Options

  • Current cycle menu: Uses data only from the current menu cycle date range. Best for menus that have established cycles and consistent participation patterns.

  • All weeks using this item: Uses every past week in which the item appeared, across any menu. Best for new cycles or recipes that lack cycle-specific history.

Suggestion Basis

  • Amount forecasted: Uses what you previously planned to serve.

  • Amount served: Uses what was actually served on submitted production records. Available when production records have been submitted in the data scope.

Running Smart Forecast in Bulk

To apply Smart Forecast across multiple menus or days at once, use the Tools menu at the top of the weekly production view and select Smart Forecast. This runs the suggestions for the selected menus across the full week.

Tip: Smart Forecast works best when you have submitted multiple weeks of actual production data. Run Smart Forecast for one menu at a time to avoid long processing times.
