Most Common Sport Betting Markets

Updated over a week ago

What’s a market?

In sports betting, a “market” is simply the thing you’re betting on. It could be the match result, the total number of goals or points, whether a player scores, or even specific events during the game.

Below are some of the most popular markets in Singapore, plus a quick explanation of how each one is settled (so you know exactly what needs to happen for your bet to win).

Match Winner (1X2)

This is the classic “who wins the match?” market — with a draw included.

How it works

You’re betting on the full-time result:

  • 1 = home win

  • X = draw

  • 2 = away win

Example

If you choose “Match Winner 1”, you’re backing the home team to win in normal time.

How it’s settled

  • You win if the final result matches your pick exactly

  • You lose if the match ends any other way

Over/Under (Totals)

This market is about the total combined count for both teams — most commonly goals or points, but it can also be things like shots on target, yellow cards, assists, and more.

How it works

You’re betting on whether the total will be over or under a set number (the “line”).

How it’s settled

  • You win if the final total ends up on the side you chose (over or under)

  • You lose if it ends up on the opposite side

  • If you bet on a round number (for example Over 2 or Under 2) and the total lands exactly on that number, your bet is returned

  • This works the same way for other Totals markets too

Double Chance

Double Chance covers two results instead of one, so it’s lower risk — but the odds are usually lower too.

How it works

You pick two possible outcomes:

  • 1X = home win or draw

  • X2 = away win or draw

  • 12 = home win or away win (either team wins)

How it’s settled

You win if either of your chosen outcomes happens.

You lose only if the one remaining outcome happens.

Half-Time / Full-Time

This market asks you to correctly predict both the half-time result and the full-time result.

How it works

You’re picking two results in one bet: one at half-time, one at full-time.

Example

1–2 means home team leading at half-time, but away team wins at full-time.

How it’s settled

  • You win only if both the half-time and full-time results match your prediction

  • You lose if either one is wrong

Draw No Bet

This is like backing a team to win, but with draw protection.

How it works

You pick a team to win. There’s no draw option.

How it’s settled

  • If your team wins: you win

  • If your team loses: you lose

  • If it ends in a draw: your stake is refunded

First Team to Score

Simple: who scores first?

How it works

You pick which team will score the first goal.

How it’s settled

  • You win if your team scores the first goal

  • You lose if the other team scores first

  • You also lose if no goals are scored in regular time

Outright

Outrights are long-term bets, like who wins a league, a tournament, or a seasonal player award (top goalscorer, most assists, etc.).

How it works

Your bet stays open until the competition ends.

How it’s settled

  • You win if your selection is correct once the full competition is completed

  • You lose if they don’t win

  • If your team/player is disqualified before the tournament ends, the bet is still settled only after the tournament finishes

Correct Score

This one is exactly what it sounds like — and it’s tough to hit, which is why the odds are often high.

How it works

You predict the exact final score.

How it’s settled

  • You win only if the score matches perfectly

  • You lose if it’s even one goal/point different

Anytime Goalscorer

You’re betting on a player to score at least once during the match.

How it works

The goal can happen at any time — early, late, doesn’t matter.

How it’s settled

  • You win if the player scores at least one goal

  • You lose if they don’t score

  • If the player doesn’t take part at all (never steps onto the pitch), your stake is refunded

Goals Handicap

A handicap adds a “virtual” goal advantage or disadvantage to make one-sided match-ups more balanced.

How it works

  • Underdogs usually get a positive handicap (+)

  • Favourites usually get a negative handicap (-)

  • The handicap is applied to the final score for settlement

How it’s settled

  • You win if your team is ahead after the handicap is applied

  • You lose if the adjusted score doesn’t go your way

  • If you take a round-number handicap and the adjusted result lands exactly level (for example, you gave Team 1 a +2 advantage but they lose by exactly 2), your stake is refunded

Rest of the Match

This market starts counting from the moment you place the bet — the earlier score doesn’t matter.

How it works

  • Only what happens after your bet is placed counts

  • The score at the time you place the bet is ignored

How it’s settled

  • You win if your chosen outcome happens during the remaining time

  • You lose if it doesn’t

  • Extra time (2×15 minutes) does not count

Half Winner (Any Half)

This is about who wins a specific half — not the whole match.

How it works

You’re betting on the result of a chosen half.

How it’s settled

  • You win if your team wins that half

  • You lose if the half ends in a draw or your team loses

  • Added time at the end of the half (injury time) does count

To Win to Nil

This one means winning without conceding.

How it works

You’re backing a team to win the match and keep a clean sheet.

How it’s settled

  • You win if your team wins and the opponent scores zero

  • You lose if your team concedes or fails to win

Both Teams to Score

You’re betting on whether both sides will score at least once. This is especially popular in leagues where teams tend to play open, high-scoring matches.

How it works

Usually offered as Yes / No.

How it’s settled

  • You win if both teams score during the match

  • You lose if one (or both) teams don’t score

Player Props (Goals, Assists, etc)

Player props are bets on an individual player’s stats. This market is the most popular for Superstar players, who are expected to overperform constantly

How it works

You’re betting on a player to hit a specific target (for example: goals, points, assists, yellow cards, shots on target — any tracked stat offered as a market).

How it’s settled

  • You win if the player meets your prediction

  • You lose if they don’t
