If you're seeing zero values in your inventory on Genie, it’s likely because the unit costs in Shopify are missing or outdated. This guide will walk you through a simple process to update them and get your inventory back on track.

Checking Your Dashboard:

Start by checking your account dashboard in Genie. If you notice zero values across your inventory, it means you need to update your Shopify cost and retail values.

Managing Your Inventory Table in Genie:

Next, head over to your inventory table within Genie, where you can manage all of your product details. Here, you’ll be able to identify which products are missing unit cost values.

Filtering Products That Need Updates:

To find the products that need their unit costs updated, use the “Filters” feature. This allows you to narrow down your product list to only those items that have missing or outdated cost values. In the filter search bar, you can either type “Shopify unit costs” or scroll down to find the relevant filters related to Shopify.

Once you find it, set the filter condition to “empty” to pull up all products that are missing unit cost values.

Exporting the List of Affected Products:

Once you’ve applied the filter, you’ll see a list of products that need updating. You can then export this list by selecting the “Export” option from the “Actions” menu. This export will give you a clear overview of all the products that need their unit costs updated.

Updating Unit Costs in Shopify:

Now that you have a list of products that need attention, go to your Shopify admin panel and locate these items. The next step is to update the unit costs in bulk to save time.

Shopify has a handy “Bulk Edit” feature that allows you to update multiple products at once. Simply select all the products that need updating, and then choose “Bulk Edit.” In the bulk edit view, look for the “Cost Per Item” field, where you can enter the correct unit cost for each product.

Saving Changes and Syncing with Genie:

After updating the unit costs in Shopify, make sure to click “Save” to store the changes. This sync will automatically update your inventory in Genie with the new unit cost values, fixing any zero values that were previously showing up.

Check Your Supplier Costs:

If you’ve linked suppliers to your products, you can also double-check the cost prices for each product variant. Just go to the “Suppliers” section in Shopify and review the prices there to make sure they match up with the unit costs you’ve entered.

Verify Your Total Cost Values:

Lastly, it’s a good idea to verify that everything is correct. In your Genie inventory table, check the “Cost Value” column to make sure the total cost for each product matches the updated unit costs. This will ensure that your inventory data is accurate across the board.

By following these simple steps, you’ll be able to quickly update your Shopify unit costs and resolve any zero values in your Genie inventory.
