Determining how much stock you need to order at a given time can be difficult and may lead to incorrect order quantities or overstocking. This can become a nightmare for smaller brands or brands with more restrictive budgets.

To try and make their lives easier and provide some peace of mind when reordering our team has developed our new Smart Suggested Reorder feature.

Overview

Finally, we are happy to introduce one of our highly requested features, the Smart Suggested Reorder!

This feature is a first step toward the goal of fully realizing demand planning within Genie. Smart suggested reorder is our new feature that gives you recommended reorder quantities based on a “Covered Until” date. This means if you give Genie a date you want to ensure you have coverage until Genie will recommend reorder quantities that will get you to that date.

For example, say you have an Adidas backpack that is running low and you’d like to reorder enough to get you well into the following month, let’s say the 15th. If you input the date you want to have converge until, say 11-15-2024, Genie will give you a suggested order quantity that is based on a few key metrics:

  1. Average daily sales

  2. On hand quantities

  3. Stock buffer

How does it work?

Step 1: Creating a Purchase Order.

The first thing you will want to do is create a PO either from the inventory table or within the PO tab.

Step 2: At the bottom of the PO creation window you can now add a “Stock Covered until” date. This date, when adding it to this window, will be applied to all products added to this specific PO.

Step 3: Select ‘create.

Within the PO itself you will now see the product table has an additional column labeled ‘Covered Until.’ Adding a date to this column will automatically generate a recommended reorder quantity, the same also applies the other way around. If you input a quantity, Genie will give you the date you will be covered until.

Step 4: Adding products.

Once you have all of the PO fields filed and ready to go, you can begin adding the products you’d like to order.

Note: Each product you add will have the same coverage date.

From here you can change the quantities and see the coverage date update or change the coverage date and see the quantities update.

This is a simple yet effective way for brands to better understand what they need to reorder and how long their stock will last.
