The "Buy Now" table is the latest update being introduced to Genie's suite of features. This table provides a comprehensive overview of products that should be reordered based on your reorder frequency and offers insight into the quantity to order, the optimal time to order, the duration the order will last, as well as some additional metrics to improve order confidence.

Genie's Buy Now table enables you to make data-driven and accurate orders removing the guesswork and manual inputs associated with our previous system.

This article will provide an overview and walkthrough of the feature, its use cases, and additional features soon to come.

Introduction to the Buy Now Table

The Buy Now table is a dedicated view of what products should be ordered, when, and how much. Rather than spending time sorting your inventory table, you can leverage this view to make more informed ordering decisions faster. Right off the jump, you can see:

  • What products need to be ordered

  • How much Genie recommend to order

  • When to place the order

  • When you will stock out of current units

  • How much the order will cost

  • How long the order will last

Note: All of these metrics are based on your Avg. Daily Sales calculation period and your reorder frequency. This means it is important to ensure these two settings reflect your business needs. But also keep in mind they can be changed at any time.

Actions you can take

From the Buy Now table, you can perform a couple of actions, with more coming soon.

We went to make creating orders as easy a process as possible. To that end, we have made it super easy to see what products need to be reordered, organize the table, and add the products you deem important to order in a matter of a few clicks. In this process, we also want to retain the confidence that you are ordering the correct products with the right quantities.

So, within the table, we have made it easy to select the individual variants, or the product as a whole and add them directly to a new or existing order in just a click. This pairs perfectly with the supplier relationships as when you add the products to an order the unit costs and supplier SKUs with auto-populate alongside the recommended order quantities. This means you will spend less time configuring your orders, and more time managing your products.

In addition to creating orders directly from the table, we have included the option of managing suppliers and updating your reader frequency. For the former, ensuring your suppliers are properly added and the relationships are mapped allows you to create new orders and update existing ones much easier.

As for your reorder frequency (and a lesser extent avg. daily sales), this will dictate what products are displayed on this table. If you're setting your reorder frequency to 1 month this will show you any products that have a stockout date within the next two months + whatever their lead time is. This can be a bit difficult to understand, but below is a diagram of how this works.

So long as the product stockout date falls within the reorder frequency time, it will be displayed on the table. If that stockout date falls before or after that time, it will not show up. When the lead time falls outside of the timeframe this will result in a stock gap, this is why it is important to consider the "Should order by" date that appears on the table.

Keep in mind when building new orders that the quantities we recommend are just suggestions. You are free to change them as you see fit or ignore them entirely.

As you explore and use this table to create new orders or update current ones remember that this is only the first version, and will give you an idea of the changes coming to Genie in the next few weeks. There will be more tweaks, features, and improvements to come. Enhancing the workflow and streamlining order creation.
