Understanding Sentiment Analysis & Categories

Updated over 6 months ago

Blabla’s AI helps you better understand the emotions and intentions behind every comment and DM by automatically analyzing the sentiment and type of each interaction. This gives you a clearer view of what your audience is expressing — and allows you to react accordingly, at scale.

What is Sentiment Analysis?

Every message or comment you receive is analyzed by Blabla’s AI and classified into one of three sentiment types:

  • Positive

  • Negative

  • Neutral

The detected sentiment appears directly in the comment or DM detail view, as a colored icon next to the message.

⚠️ Sentiment cannot be edited manually — it is determined automatically by Blabla's AI.

Understanding Categories

Beyond sentiment, Blabla classifies interactions into categories, based on the content and intent of the message. This makes it easier to prioritize, sort, and respond efficiently.

Here are the available categories:

  • 💼 Business – questions related to pricing, orders, availability, etc.

  • 😍 Direct Interactions – comments with only emojis or simple engagement

  • 🚫 Sensitive Content – hate speech, spam, or inappropriate messages

  • 💬 Feedback – opinions or suggestions about a product or service

  • Questions – clear inquiries from users

  • ⚠️ Complaint – expressions of dissatisfaction or problems

  • 😂 Humor – playful or funny comments

  • 🔗 Sharing – users tagging others or sharing content (e.g. "@lucy look at this")

The detected category appears directly in the comment or DM detail view, as a colored icon next to the message.

⚠️ Category cannot be edited manually — it is determined automatically by Blabla's AI.

Filter Conversations by Sentiment or/and Category

To filter your conversations by sentiment or category:

  • Go to the Comments or DM page

  • At the top of the screen, open the filter bar

  • Select one or more Sentiment filters (Positive, Neutral, Negative)

  • Optionally, add one or more Category filters (e.g. Business, Feedback, Complaint, etc.)

  • Click on Apply to filter the view

Sentiment Analysis Report

In your Blabla dashboard, you’ll find a section called Emotional Analysis. This gives you a visual summary of:

  • The overall tone of your audience interactions

  • The evolution of sentiment over time

  • Breakdown of positive, neutral, negative, and business-related messages

  • The number of interactions in each category

This helps you track community health, detect brand perception trends, and adapt your communication strategy accordingly.
