Blasts Overview

How to send a marketing text or push notification to your customers

To access blasts, you will need to be logged into a manager account in the admin. You will see "Blasts" under the marketing section of the admin.

Blast Billing

Before sending your blast, you will need to add a credit card. You can add and manage saved credit cards in Settings > Billing. Blasts uses a “pay-as-you-go” billing model for all blast usage to provide more control and visibility over your marketing costs. Your credit card will be charged after each blast is sent, and an invoice will be available immediately. Charges for any marketing blasts (sms or push notifications) will no longer appear on your monthly Carrot invoice. Charges for sms order status trigger messages will still be billed monthly. To view the invoice for a blast, click the invoice section at the bottom of each sent blast.

Creating Content for the Notification Center

All blasts will be saved for customers to view in the store's notification center. You will need to create a title, body, image (optional), and select which link you want the notification to send them (optional).

Links: Each option will take them to a different page on the carrot store. If you are sending them a push notification, this is the link that will automatically open when they tap it on their phone. Text blasts will still take them to the notification page.

Notification Methods

You can send a single blast as both push notification and text message, or pick just one.

Text (SMS/MMS) Blasts

The title, body, and image in the content will appear on the notifications page that customers see after passing the age gate. When sending an SMS/MMS, we always recommend sending a test message to yourself before you send it to your customer base. This will ensure there are no issues with your texting account or texting outages. We will not bill you for any test messages sent to 10 numbers or less. To send a test message, select "specific customers" and search for your number. Please make sure you have a Carrot account and are opted in to texting.

10DLC Text Messaging Customer Experience

Phone carriers have imposed content restrictions on dispensaries sending text messages. Each company needs to register officially and comply with certain regulations. This includes only sending text messages with pre-approved template content and applying an age gate on any links that lead to cannabis content. The required flow for a 10dlc message is:

  • Carrier-approved template message

  • Age Gate

  • Notification Landing Page with Link

  • Notification Page on your Carrot Store

  • (Optional) Link to a page within your carrot store

Settings

Under Method Settings, you can choose to include an image of your logo with the message. This will send the text blast as an MMS, and messages will be billed at the MMS rate. Due to 10DLC restrictions, it is not permitted to include any cannabis content in the image attached to blasts. If you wish to change your brand image or add an additional image to choose from, please contact support, as we will need to pre-approve the new image. After the support team configures the image, you can select the image to send from the drop-down under the image.

Mobile App Notifications (Push Notifications)

Push notifications will be sent directly to the phones of customers who have downloaded your mobile app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store. Push notifications have zero content restrictions and can include cannabis content/imagery.

Settings

The title and body of the push notifications will auto-populate the content you added for the notification center. If you would like to change the content of the push notification, you can do so by editing the title and body here

Recipients

Choose which customers are receiving the blast. As you select more filters, the estimates on the right-hand side of the page will update to show you the estimated cost.

  • Target Group of Customers

    • Users that are not logged in (app notification only)

      • Customers who have downloaded your app but not logged into their account

    • Customers that have not shopped

      • Customers who have not made an in-store or online purchase

    • By last used location

      • Based on which location the customer interacted with last

    • Customer Win Back (optional)

      • Use this to target customers who have or have not shopped in a certain number of days

  • Target Specific Customers

    • Search specific customers by their name or phone number.

    • Use this feature to send a test text to yourself

Scheduling

Choose to send it now or send later!

Summary

A summary of the recipients and estimated cost will appear above the option to send. If the send button is greyed out, it will explain exactly what is needed to send below the button.
