Change for Nonprofits

What is Change?

  • Change is a donation processing and compliance platform that enables companies to easily and compliantly donate to any nonprofit – like yours! So far, Change has granted millions in donations from 100+ corporate donors such as Bonfire, Givsly, Jackpocket and Fandiem.

What is Our Change Foundation (OCF)?

  • Our Change Foundation (OCF) is a Donor-Advised Fund which distributes grants made by corporate partners, such as Bonfire.

What is the difference between Change and OCF?

  • Change is a company that helps businesses and nonprofits send and receive grants through our dashboard and tech platform. Change utilizes Our Change Foundation as its DAF to distribute grants to the designated nonprofit. Change does not take any percentage or cut from grants made to nonprofits.

I'm a nonprofit and I just signed up for Change. How do I view my donations and donors?

  • If you signed up with a verified email, you can go to the Donations or Donors pages. You can find these pages in the navigation bar on the left. If you signed up and see a "verification pending" message, then you'll need to wait for your account to be verified before you can see your organization's information. The verification process is there to protect you and your payouts.

How long does it take to get verified?

  • It can take up to a week for your account to be verified. If you have any questions, you can reach out using the chat box in the bottom-right of the page.

I'd like to talk to a donor. Can you put me in contact with them?

  • Yes, we'd be happy to introduce you to a corporate donor. Visit your Donors page, click on the donor, then click "Request contact info". A member of the Change support team will reach out soon to introduce you to the corporate donor.

I just received a check. Where is this money from? I’d like to know who the donor is. Can you put me in contact with them?

  • To see a breakdown of the funds for the check you have just received, please create a Change account. In our dashboard, you will be able to see all Donations and Donors to your organization. If you'd like to reach out to any donor, please reach out to support at hello@getchange.io.

Can I get my money faster?

  • You can adjust how frequently you receive payouts in your Settings. On the right-hand side click "Update payout schedule" and adjust your payout schedule to your preferences. As a one time courtesy, Change issues a check for your first payout but for all subsequent payouts we encourage you to add your bank account.

I received a letter in the mail stating that I have funds waiting to be paid out to me. How do I receive these funds?

  • As a one-time courtesy, Change issues a check for your first payout. For all subsequent payouts, we require nonprofits to add their bank account information before they can receive their granted funds.

I don’t want to connect to a bank account and would prefer to continue receiving paper checks. What do I do?

  • While we would prefer you add your bank account for increased security and speed of payouts, we understand this is not possible for all of our nonprofit customers. Please reach out to support at hello@getchange.io to discuss alternative payout options including paper checks.

I'm trying to sign up for an account on Change, but my EIN cannot be recognized. What is going on?

  • We apologize for this inconvenience! The bylaws of our organization contain a strict requirement that requires we only support organizations that are listed on the IRS's Master File. Unfortunately, since the EIN you provided is not present on the list and therefore not searchable on our end, there is nothing more that we are allowed to do to get your organization onboarded.

  • If you are a new organization or just filed with the IRS, it is possible that you are not yet on the most updated data that is pulled into our system.

  • If you have any pending payouts, we suggest reaching out to donor directly for further assistance.

My nonprofit is a 509(a)3 – why can't I register my nonprofit?

  • Although 509(a)3 is a subset of 501(c)3, we only support US organizations that are solely 501(c)3s.

  • If you have pending payouts, we suggest reaching out to the donor directly.

We are a fiscal-sponsored organization with child nonprofits – how do we go about claiming each nonprofit on Change?

Is it secure to share my data with Change?

  • Yes! We are SOC 2 Type II certified. This certification assures that all donation transactions and associated data are protected under these established security standards. Click here for more information.
