Creating your first recipe
Updated over a week ago

Your first step in meez should always be to just start creating your recipes.

First, go to the +New Button at the top right of your screen

  1. You can add your recipe to an existing recipe book or create a new recipe book to add it to as well

  2. If you have a business subscription, you can also add your recipe to different businesses / locations as well.

Next, Start Adding Ingredients

  1. meez has predictive text entry, so we'll pick up what you're putting down even if it's not formatted exactly right

  2. As you type, you'll be accessing the meez database of ingredients (these include yields and conversions already built in for you test and retested by our team!!!)

  3. Press ENTER to complete a row. Press TAB to add a note to that line

  4. You can create New Ingredients and Recipes as you go. If what you type shows up in red underline, just click on it and choose to create new

  5. Make sure to leverage 'prep actions' like sliced, diced, chopped, etc.

...you can also copy/paste and free form type ingredients into meez:

  1. Copy ingredients from files (word docs, excel, pdf's, websites, etc.) or just type freely (this is a quick way to type on the fly on mobile)

  2. Click the "Paste ingredients from a file" link

  3. Paste your information in

Next, Add your Total Yield

  1. Though this is not 'required', if you want recipe costing or to take full advantage of how to scale in meez, then you def want to add a total yield

  2. Choose any unit of measure you like or create a new custom unit if you want

Next, Add your Prep Method

Your prep method can show up as a slide show when you add images or videos to your prep steps

  1. Include pictures and Images by dragging them in from your desktop, pulling from your photo library, or just taking a pic/video right from your phone

  2. Type or Copy/Paste into a Prep Step text box, then press TAB to go to the next prep step line

If you don't want to add images or create a slide show, you can use the General Info Option to type or paste in lots of text.

Optionally, Add Headers and Notes to your recipes

Headers

Use these to separate sets of ingredients or prep steps

  • For example, you can add a section header called 'For the Wet Ingredients' to separate wet ingredients from dry, etc.

Notes

Use this to add any type of general text / information to your recipe

  1. You can add your prep steps this way to quickly paste in a lot of text

  2. Hyperlink text to any URL if you like

  3. Customize the text

  4. Paste an image or video in here from your desktop as well

That's it!
