Menus are available to:
Plans: Enterprise
Team Members: Account Owner and Managers
How to Create a Menu
You can create a new menu in two ways:
Go to the Menu tab and click the blue Create your first menu button.
Click the blue + New button in the upper right corner and select Menu.
Give your menu a name, then select the concepts and/or locations that should have access to it. Click Create to continue.
Adding Menu Items and Linking Recipes
A menu item represents a dish or product as it appears on your customer-facing menu — for example, "Grilled Salmon" or "Chocolate Chip Cookie." Each menu item is linked to the recipe or recipes that make it up, which is how meez calculates your food cost and profit margin automatically.
To add a menu item:
Click the blue Add menu item button on your menu.
In the menu item modal, enter the Menu Item Name. Use the name as it appears on your customer-facing menu. This makes it easier to match sales data later.
Use the search bar below the name to find and link the recipe or ingredient that makes up this item. You can link as many recipes or ingredients as needed to represent the full dish.
Simple item example: A single Chocolate Chip Cookie recipe links directly to the menu item.
Composite item example: A plate of assorted cookies could link three separate cookie recipes, each with its own quantity and unit of measure.
For every recipe or ingredient you add, enter the quantity and unit of measure, for example, 3 each. This is required for accurate cost calculations.
Tip: If a recipe you need doesn't appear in search, make sure it exists in your recipe library and is owned by the same concept as the menu.
Add a Category
Categories help you organize menu items for sorting and reporting — typically the section of the menu they appear in, like Entrees, Desserts, or Brunch.
Type a category name in the category field and add it to your list. Once created, that category will be available to select for any future menu items on this menu.
Setting a Sell Price
Enter the sell price for each menu item. As soon as you do, meez automatically calculates:
Food Cost
Food Cost %
Profit Margin
These update in real time based on the recipes and ingredients linked to the item.
Deleting a Menu Item or Menu
To delete a menu item, click the trash icon at the far right of the item's row.
To delete an entire menu, click the three-dot menu (⋮) to the right of the menu's row in the menu list and select Delete.
Adding Quantity Sold
Enterprise subscribers can input their quantity sold manually or by importing sales data. This unlocks the revenue and overall menu cost views, and gives you the ability to toggle variance on and off.
