Contacts

Find your contacts, view their information and import them in a few clicks

The Contacts page lets you:

  • see all the contacts in your WAX database,

  • view each contact's information (number, email, opt-in status, source…),

  • import new contacts,

  • filter your database to prepare your lists and segments.

👉 It's your starting point to keep a healthy, usable database.

Search and filter your contacts

You can refine the list of contacts with the filters at the top of the page.

Available filters

  • Filter by Contacts List: show only contacts from a specific list

  • Filter by Tags: filter by the tags applied to contacts

  • Filter by Opt-in Status: filter by WhatsApp status (Opt-in, Opt-out, Unknown)

You can combine several filters for a more precise search.

Understand a contact's information

Each row of the table is a contact and shows:

  • the contact's name (if available),

  • the phone number,

  • the email,

  • the WhatsApp opt-in status,

  • the opt-in source,

  • the contact's creation date.

Import contacts

Before importing, your file must be formatted correctly.

Required columns

  • phone_number: the contact's phone number

  • first_name: the contact's first name

⚠️ Column names must be exactly the same, with no capital letters or spaces. If you want to personalize your messages (e.g. favorite color, customer status…), add one column per piece of data.

Best practices:

  • no capital letters,

  • no spaces,

  • use _ instead (e.g. hair_color).

To import contacts:

  • Go to Audience > Contacts

  • Click Import Contacts

  • Select your CSV file

During the import:

  • give the contact list a name,

  • add a tag if needed (useful for exclusion, Inbox support or segmentation).

👉 Importing adds contacts to your database, but doesn't automatically create a WhatsApp opt-in.

Check your import history

The Import history tab lets you:

  • see past imports,

  • check the dates and volumes imported,

  • spot any errors.

After the import, the file goes through several statuses:

  • 🟣 In Progress: WAX is creating the contact records

  • 🟢 Approved: import completed successfully

  • 🔴 Failure: an error occurred

If it fails:

  • click View to see the errors,

  • check the column names first (phone_number, first_name),

  • fix the file and run the import again.

👉 If the problem persists, contact your Customer Success Manager.

Export your contacts

You can export your contacts at any time by clicking Export (top right).

Exporting lets you:

  • analyze your database outside WAX,

  • reuse the data in other tools.

In short

The Contacts page is the foundation of your WhatsApp strategy on WAX.

It lets you centralize your contacts, understand their status and prepare your audiences for your campaigns and automations.

👉 Before sending a message, always make sure your database is up to date and filtered correctly.
