Add a tag to receivers

How to tag contacts who received an automation or a campaign?

Updated this week

This feature allows you to automatically tag contacts who have actually received a message (campaign or automation), making it easier to find them in your audience and refine your targeting.

Case 1: Tagging contacts from a campaign

Steps

  1. Go to Campaigns

  2. Open a Completed campaign

  3. Click the ⋯ (three-dot) menu on the right of the campaign

  4. Select Tag receivers

  5. Choose an existing tag or create a new one
    👉 Recommended format: received_campaign_name

  6. Click Confirm

Result

✅ All contacts who received the campaign will be tagged.

Case 2: Tagging contacts from an automation (flow)

Steps

  1. Go to Automations

  2. Click the ⋯ (three-dot) menu on the relevant flow

  3. Select Tag receivers

  4. Choose or create a tag
    👉 Recommended format: received_flow_name

  5. Click Confirm

Result

✅ All contacts who received a message in this flow will be tagged.

⚠️ Important rule to know

👉 Only contacts who meet the flow conditions and do not exit the flow before the message is sent will be tagged.

In practice:

  • A contact enters the flow

  • But a condition (split, rule, early exit, etc.) makes them exit before the message is sent

  • ❌ The tag will not be applied

Example

In a flow with conditions such as:

  • “Already purchased”

  • “Already contacted”

  • “Opt-out”

👉 Contacts excluded by these conditions will not receive the message
👉 They will therefore not be tagged

This is expected and normal behavior.

Finding tagged contacts

  1. Go to Audience > Contacts

  2. Click Filter by Tags

  3. Select the relevant tag (e.g. received_campaign_x or received_flow_y)

You will see only the contacts who actually received the message.
