Find in Spreadsheet

Searching values and formulas across one sheet or the whole workbook

Written by Holly Conrad Smith

Finding a number or a formula across a growing workbook is one of the most common everyday moves in any spreadsheet, and Spreadsheet works the same way Excel does.

Find

Press Cmd/Ctrl+F to open Find. It searches both the values you see and the formulas behind them, so searching for GI.TOTAL finds the formula and searching for Residential finds what is on screen. Press Enter for the next match and Shift+Enter for the previous one, starting from wherever your cursor already is. Tick All sheets to widen the search beyond the current sheet.

See Column Types in Spreadsheet for dates and drag-fill, and Building a Formula in Spreadsheet for pointing at cells instead of typing addresses.
