givestar pays funds directly to the charity and not the fundraiser. Payments are made on or around the 14th of every month, rather than per individual donation.
1) Scheduled payouts
Donations are grouped together and transferred to charities as part of our regular payout schedule. This means:
Donations made across different dates may appear in different payout batches
The charity may receive multiple payments over time rather than one lump sum
2) What happens if a charity isn’t onboarded?
A charity can still be selected and fundraised for on givestar, but if the charity hasn’t completed onboarding:
The charity won’t have access to a dashboard or reports
We may not have verified bank details for payout
Funds are held securely and earmarked for the charity until onboarding is completed
3) Why payments may be held
Payments can be held when we’re unable to complete payout safely or compliantly. Common reasons include:
The charity has not completed onboarding, so bank details are not confirmed
We’re missing a valid payment route for the charity (e.g., donation page/bank details cannot be verified)
Additional compliance checks are required before funds can be released
Funds are not redirected elsewhere if a payout is held, it remains secured for the intended charity.
4) How to ensure your charity receives funds smoothly
If you’re a charity and want to receive funds and access reporting, the next step is to complete onboarding. Once onboarded, charities can:
Confirm bank details and enable payouts
Access donation and payout reports
View fundraiser activity and donor information (where consent has been provided)
5) Need confirmation of a specific payout?
If you’re trying to reconcile a payment, please contact support directly with:
Charity name and charity number
Payout date and amount
Any bank reference details your finance team can see
We’ll help confirm the details.
