How do I get a Gift Aid declaration form?

How Gift Aid declarations are collected on givestar, how to get a copy, and how charities access declarations for HMRC claims.

A Gift Aid declaration is the form a donor completes to confirm they are a UK taxpayer and authorise a charity to claim Gift Aid on their donation. Here's how it works on givestar.

How declarations are collected on givestar

When a donor makes a donation to a Gift Aid-eligible page on givestar, they are prompted to complete a Gift Aid declaration as part of the checkout process. This includes:

  • Full name

  • Email address

  • Home address (house number/name and postcode)

  • Confirmation that they are a UK taxpayer

  • Confirmation the donation is from their own funds and not part of a raffle, auction, or similar

givestar collects this information securely and passes the Gift Aid declaration to the charity, who submits it to HMRC when claiming.

For Charities - Accessing Gift Aid Declarations

Gift Aid declarations made through givestar are available to charity admin users in the Charity Admin dashboard. Log in to charityadmin.givestar.io and go to the relevant donation report to access declaration data for submission to HMRC.
