Delivering alcohol, tobacco, and other age-restricted items?

You'll need to check ID and follow the 'Challenge 25' process at the doorstep.

Once you've read the information below, please take this quiz to make sure you understand the process and get access to more work.

❗Challenge 25 is a legal requirement and failure to follow can have very serious consequences including police investigations, personal fines, and a permanent ban from our platform.


What is Challenge 25?

it's a scheme that asks anyone who appears to be under the age of 25 to provide proof of age when buying and receiving age-restricted products.

How do I check IDs with Gophr?

If you're delivering any age-restricted items (alcohol, tobacco etc.) the app will prompt you to follow Challenge 25 πŸ‘‡ when you've arrived at the delivery location.


What happens if...

  • Recipient looks over 25 ❓

    • Mark 'Yes, the person looks above the age of 25'

    • Add required recipient's full name

  • Recipient looks below 25 ❓

    • You must check their ID, but you can still deliver if they are 18 OR over 18

      • Mark 'I'm not sure'

      • Add required recipient's full name

      • Add required recipient's date of birth

    • If recipient is below 18

      • Do not deliver the parcel. Contact support for further instructions.

  • You cannot find anyone❓

    • Do not deliver the parcel. Contact support for further instructions.


Dos and Don'ts

βœ… Ask for ID if recipient looks under 25

βœ… Make sure the ID is valid and government issued (i.e passport, driving licence, ID card, residence permit), or a card marked with the PASS hologram

βœ… Call the customer if they are not answering the door

βœ… Contact support if the customer is unresponsive

βœ… Make sure the restricted items are handled with care

❌ Don't deliver is the recipient is under 18

❌ Don't leave the items unattended at any stage

❌ Don't 'Leave safe'

❌ Don't post through the letterbox

❌ Don't leave the items with a neighbour


FAQ's

If a customer is not at home and I need to return the order, will I be paid for it?

Yes, please contact support to let them know. You will be paid for your journey as well as the return job.

I called the customer and they told me to leave it behind the wheelie bin. Can I?

No, politely tell the customer that there must be someone over 18 that can provide a valid form of ID at the address to accept the order.

In the job description it says to leave with the neighbour if nobody at home. Can I do it?

No, please call the customer and find out if they will be home soon. If not, please contact support and wait for further instructions.

The customer is not answering the door or the phone, can I leave it in front of the house?

No, please do not leave the items unattended. If the customer isn't responding please contact support.
