1. Accessing the Sensors Tab

  • Open the GreenCast Connect app.

  • Tap the Sensors tab located at the bottom of the screen.

    • This will display all currently installed sensors and their data.

2. Adding a New Sensor

Note: Before installation Test Sensor Location Quality to ensure optimal data reads.

  • Tap the plus (+) icon at the top-right corner of the Sensors tab.

  • Select Install a Sensor from the options provided.

  • Follow the on-screen instructions to proceed with the installation.

Adding a Sensor to a Specific Area

You can also install a sensor directly into an existing Area:

  • Open the Sensors tab.

  • Select an Area where you want to install the new sensor.

  • Tap "Install Sensor" within the pencil (edit) icon actions.

  • Follow the step-by-step installation instructions.

This method ensures that the sensor is immediately associated with the correct Area, making it easier to manage and track data.

Step-by-Step Installation Instructions

Step 1: Install Sensor into the Ground

  • Insert the sensor into the ground at the desired location and confirm that the sensor is properly installed.

It is recommend that you install your soil sensors in the middle of your rootzone for both greens, tees and fairways. The soil sensor is two inches wide (5.08cm) and the soil moisture probe starts about half an inch (1.27cm) below the top of the sensor. Practically, this means that if you want data from a two inch (5.08cm) depth, then you need to install your sensor one inch (2.54cm) below the turf thatch.

    • For now, keep the magnet green strip on the sensor.

    • Make sure the sensor QR code is still visible.

    • Confirm- sensor installed.

Step 2: Confirm Sensor Location on the Map

  • Drag the pin on the map to the precise installation location.

  • Once the location is correct, tap Confirm Location.

Step 3: Scan the Spiio Soil Sensor QR Code

  • Use your device to scan the QR code on the sensor.

  • You can also import a photo from your gallery of the QR code.

  • To type in the Sensor ID, click on the keyboard icon on the top right corner.

Step 4: Activate the Sensor

  • Remove the green magnet strip from the sensor to activate it.

  • The sensor should start blinking white.

  • Confirm that the strip has been removed.

NOTE: An already assigned sensor cannot be scanned. Ensure the sensor is unassigned before attempting to scan it. To unassigned a sensor please follow the How To Unnasign a Sensor steps.

IMPORTANT: Do not replace the magnet once the sensor is installed in the ground and connected, this will disrupt its functionality.

Step 5: Wait for Connection Confirmation

  • Wait for the sensor’s green light to indicate a successful network connection.

  • This process may take up to 3 minutes.

If sensor does not blink green, please troubleshoot connection issues.

Step 6: Select Installation Site

  • Choose an existing installation site from your organization, or create a new one:

    • To create a new area, tap the plus (+) icon at the top-right corner.

    • Enter the site name, area type, soil type, and species (all optional).

    • Once the area is created successfully, tap Continue.

Step 7: Add Installation Details

  • Enter the name of the installation spot and the depth of the sensor in the soil.

  • These details help identify your sensors in the app.

  • Tap Continue.

Step 8: Take a Photo

  • Capture or upload a meaningful photo of the installation site to help locate the sensor more easily.

  • Tap Finish.

Completion Confirmation

  • Once the installation is complete, a confirmation screen will appear stating:

    • “Congratulations, you completed the sensor installation.”

Note: It may take up to 10 minutes for the sensors to appear in the app under the Sensors tab. You will receive a notification once the first data is received, confirming a successful installation.

Managing Sensors

Once installed, It may take a few minutes for the sensors to appear in the app under the Sensors tab. In the Sensors tab, users can:

  • Monitor key metrics:

    • View moisture, salinity, and temperature levels for each sensor.

  • Check averages:

    • See the organization’s average values for moisture, salinity, and temperature at the bottom of the screen.

  • Locate sensor IDs:

    • Select a sensor, tap the edit (pencil) icon, and find the Sensor ID, which is essential for support requests.
