Why can’t I use my staff/studio email address as a student email address in the mobile app?

Groovio requires unique email addresses for staff and students to avoid system conflicts. Using the same email for both roles can create issues, as the system needs to distinguish between user types to function properly.

TIP: If a staff member’s email is hosted by Gmail or most other providers, they can create a unique “clone” email for student registration:

  • With Gmail, simply add a dot anywhere in the first part of the email address (e.g., `janesmith@gmail.com` can become `jane.smith@gmail.com`). Both variations will still deliver to the same inbox.

  • Alternatively, many providers allow a plus sign in email addresses, which also directs messages to the original inbox (e.g., `janesmith+student@gmail.com`).

This approach ensures emails stay organized while enabling both staff and student roles for the same person.
