When integrating Habitify with AI agents like Claude via the Model Context Protocol (MCP), you might wonder how your personal habit data is handled. Is it a one-way street, or does the AI have full access to your history?
Here is everything you need to know about how the MCP integration manages your data and protects your privacy.
A User-Controlled, Two-Way Connection
The connection between Habitify and your chosen AI agent is a two-way connection, but it is strictly controlled by your prompts. It operates on a request-and-response basis rather than a continuous, open data stream.
Here is how the data flows in both directions:
1. AI Tools > Habitify (Writing Data)
When you give the AI a command, it can send data directly to your Habitify account to manage your routine. This includes:
Creating habits: e.g., "Create a daily habit for reading."
Logging progress: e.g., "Mark my morning run as complete."
2. Habitify > AI Tools (Reading Data)
Data flows from Habitify back to the AI only when you specifically ask a question that requires your historical data to answer.
Retrieving progress and history: e.g., "Did I finish my habits today?" or "What is my current streak for meditation?"
The AI agent cannot "see" your data until you explicitly request an analysis or a progress update.
Privacy and Security
We prioritize your data privacy when using AI integrations. Here is how we ensure your information stays secure:
No Background Streaming: There is no continuous background data syncing between Habitify and the AI. Data is exclusively transferred when you initiate a relevant prompt.
Minimal Data Transfer: Habitify only sends the specific data points required to answer your exact question. It does not hand over your entire account history by default.
No AI Training: Under standard API and MCP agreements, the personal data retrieved during these sessions is used strictly to answer your prompt in that moment. Your Habitify data is never used to train public AI models.
