When syncing Habitify with Android's Health Connect, you might notice your daily step count appearing unusually high or nearly doubled compared to your actual activity.
This discrepancy occurs when Health Connect receives overlapping step data from multiple sources at the same time. For example, if you have Google Fit, Samsung Health, a smartwatch, and your phone's built-in pedometer all tracking your steps simultaneously, they may all be dumping their data into Health Connect.
If Health Connect isn't told which app is the definitive "source of truth," it merges the numbers and pushes an inflated, doubled total over to Habitify.
How to fix
To resolve this, you need to set a single primary source for your step data inside Android's Health Connect settings. This tells your phone to prioritize your main tracker and ignore the duplicates.
Open Health Connect
Open your Android device's Settings app.
Search for Health Connect in the top search bar (on newer devices, this is located under Security and Privacy > Privacy Controls > Health Connect).
Access Data Sources
Tap Manage data (or Data and access).
Select Data sources and priority.
Select Your Activity
Tap on Activity, then choose Steps.
Prioritize Your Main Tracker
Look at the list of apps under App sources.
Remove Sources: You can remove secondary apps so they no longer contribute to your total steps.
Alternative fix: disable direct device tracking
If adjusting Health Connect priorities doesn't solve the issue, Habitify itself might be pulling data from both the Health Connect hub and your phone's native built-in step counter simultaneously. You can fix this by disabling Habitify's direct access to your phone's sensors.
Open your Android device's Settings app.
Go to Apps > Habitify > Permissions.
Check if Physical Activity is enabled.
If it is enabled, select Don't allow.
This forces Habitify to rely exclusively on Health Connect for step tracking, cutting off the second stream of data.
Next steps
Once you have applied these fixes, you will need to give the system a moment to catch up:
Allow time to sync: It may take a few moments for the corrected, un-doubled step total to sync over to Habitify.
Restart the app: Force close and reopen the Habitify app to trigger a fresh data pull from Health Connect.
